The discussion was centred on the New Maharashtra Government GR regarding Adventure Sports and Outdoors. We found out that registration forms for Outdoor Clubs / Organising Groups were circulated in Pune and that groups in Pune have began the process.
We had a discussion on the contents of the form that is being circulated in Pune and were of the conclusion that the details requested and declarations sought therein are in favour of outdoor groups and clubs. We decided that it would be in our best interest to complete the registration formalities.
The registration is currently only going on in Pune and we are in touch with the district officials for registration of clubs/groups in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai for the time being. Members of AMGM have also began registration for the same.
A copy of the 7 page form circulated in Pune has been attached underneath.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FORM OR THE PROCEDURES, MOPA IS READY TO HELP YOU WITH IT.
*************************************************************************************
In order to help groups with the mandatory certifications required for the registration, MOPA is organising a 2 day First Aid Course on the 11 – 12 of October 2014. Details about Cost and Venue will be put up soon.

Dudhsagar Waterfall Trek & Wildlife Excursion on 19th September 2014 for 2 nights by OneLife Adventa

OneLife Adventa brings to you a unique trek to Dudhsagar Falls on the Goa-Karnataka border. It is a track-trek because you will be trekking through the railway tracks of Konkan railway with breath-taking views of the valley and the falls. Along with the trek, we will be also spending a day at the Margao city in Goa. The trip also includes a wildlife excursion to the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary where birdwatchers will get a real treat.

About Dudhsagar Waterfalls – Dudhsagar Falls (literally Sea of Milk) is a 4 tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River in the Indian state of Goa on Goa's border with Karnataka state. It is 60 km from Panaji city by road and 46 km from Madgaon railway junction by train.
The waterfall is located in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wild Life Sanctuary at Collem in South Goa in the Western Ghats. The waterfall is on the border of Karnataka and Goa states. The roads leading to it are maintained by the Goa Forest Department.
Legend has it that a beautiful princess lived in the forest (near present day Dudhsagar Falls) in a palace. She loved and enjoyed bathing in a lake nearby and used to drink "sweetened milk" from her "golden jug" after finishing with her bath. One day while enjoying her jug of milk she found herself being watched by a prince, who was standing amongst the trees. Red with embarrassment at her inadequate bathing attire, she poured the jug of milk in front of him to form an improvised curtain to hide her body while the maids rushed to cover her with her dress. It is said that it is that sweetened milk that cascades down the mountain slope as Dudhsagar Falls to this day as a tribute to the virtue and modesty of the princess.

Dudhsagar is one of the world's most exquisite falls. It lies high up in the Mandovi River's watershed and so are not particularly spectacular during the dry season. During the monsoon season however, the falls are transformed into one of the most powerful falls in India. Dudhsagar Falls is listed as India's fifth tallest waterfall and is 227th in the world at 310 m. The water plummets hundreds of metres (over a thousand feet) in large volumes during the rainy monsoon season, forming one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in Goa. It is a major part of the Goa ecosystem. It is a four-tiered waterfall with a total height of 310 metres (1017 feet) and an average width of 30 metres (100 feet).

Great sage changdev (one who created the epic “Tatvasaar”), is used to meditate in 14th century. The caves are from the same period. The carvings on the temples of Nageshwar (in Khireshwar village), in the Harishchandreshwar temple and in the cave of Kedareshwar indicate that the fort belongs to the medieval period, since it is related to Shaiva, Shakta or Naath. The Marathas captured it in 1747.

This Hill fort is located between right angle of well spreaded Harishchandragad Hill in Dist Ahmednagar. This fort is located south of Pethechi Wadi village. Many call it Shiva Lingam and Nandi combo, as it looked like that.

History repeats itself! Unfortunately the Indian youth climbing team could not make it to the world youth climbing championships which start day after! It’s the same scene over again n again with climbers having to rush to the visa consulate till the last moment, thus resulting in chaos and disappointment. When are the concerned authorities ever going to realise it. Only Mayuri Deshmukh could make it. In Spite of personally funding themselves for the competition, not being able to go for the competition due to lack of support. Adarsh Singh Siddhi Manerikar Akash Gaikwad – our sympathies are with you! All the best to Mayuri Deshmukh! Make India proud!

It looks beautiful in monsoon. Raireshwar was considered to develop as a hill station & in real sense it is hill station.  Raireshwar is historically important, Shivaji Maharaj took the Oath of Swaraj in a temple of Lord Shiva. After this he kept on conquering forts and established Swaraj. This temple is situated rather deep in the interior, hence not seen in first glance. A temple surrounded by hills, surroundings covered by natural beauties. Stone structured temple of the 16th century is the main attraction of Raireshwar.   Kenjalgad  is situated on the Mandhardev spur of the Mahadev range eleven miles north-west of Wai. We at Sahyavihar Trekkers are glad to Invite you all For Trek To Mahuli On 28th Sep 2014,Sunday. Brief Info about Mahuli fort : - Height: 2,815 feetGrade: MediumTime: ~ 2.5 hrs from Mahuli, Base VillageLocation / District : Asangaon, Thane District. About Mahuli Fort: The creator of this fort is unknown. In 1485 this place came under rule of Malik Ahmed who was the founder of Nijamshahi. When Shahaji Raje became the secretary of Nijamshahi, Adilshahi and Mughals of Delhi together tried to end Nijamshahi. In the year 1635-36, in difficult circumstances Shahaji Raje transferred himself with Jijabai and Shivaji to Mahuli. Khan Jaman, son of Mahabat Khan beleaguered this fort. Shahaji Raje asked for help to Portuguese. They refused and Shahaji Raje surrendered himself. Shivaji took this fort from Mughals on 8 Jan 1658. In 1661 it was given back and was won again by Shivrai. In treaty of Purandar, in 1665, Marathas lost these forts again. The Moghal sardar Manohardas Gaud was the in charge of this fort. He did much construction on the fort. In Feb 1670, Shivaji Maharaj tried to conquer Mahuli, but failed. Thousand of Marathas were killed by Moghals. It was a bad blow to Marathas. Even after this victory, Manohardas Gaud, the chief of the fort gave up his position and a new chief Alveerdi Beg was appointed. On 16 June 1670, after two months, Moropant Pingle conquered the forts and Mahuli, Bhandargad and Palasgad became part of Swarajya. Mahuli Fort At 2815 ft, this is a popular trekking destination and a paradise for rock-climbers because of many nearby pinnacles with interesting names like Vazir, Vishnu, etc, given by the local trekking and climbing fraternity. This mountain complex is actually a group of two or more hills with common cols and pinnacles. It is the highest point in the Thane district. The forest surrounding Mahuli has been declared as a sanctuary. Once Shahaji Raje, father of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, had this fortress under his belt. Its a special even... Read more
