Location: Igatpuri-Nasik

The main entrance door of the fort still stood in good condition. Entering the main door we can see cave of the right side. We can see small pond 2wards southern side of fort. There are many dilapidated structures of mansion by the side of this pond. A bastion at western end of the fort. A cistern is located near bastion.

Tringalwadi Fort

Height: 3238 feet

Grade: Easy

Fort Range: Igatpuri

Tringalwadi has a beautiful fort, the trek to this fort is through lush green grass and a dam. The exact period of construction of this fort is not known, however, one can roughly estimate the fort to be in existence since 10th century. Also no historical details are available to know the period during which it was under control of Marathas, however, during the year 1688; Mughals took control over the fort by perfidy.

Fascinating Spots :
As one approaches this fort through Tringalwadi village at the foothills of the fort, we come across ‘Pandav leni’ caves. These caves are divided into three major areas viz. an outer verandah, ‘Vihar’, the abbey and internal ‘Garbhagriha’.

Raigad is a hill fortress situated in the modern day near Mahad, Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. The Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj made the fort his capital in 1674 when he was crowned King of a Maratha Kingdom which later developed into the Maratha Empire eventually covering majority of modern day India. The fort, which rises 820 metres (2,700 ft) above sea level, is located in the Sahyadri mountain range. There are approximately 1400–1450 steps leading to the fort, though today a rope-way exists to reach the top of the fort. The fort was looted and destroyed by the British upon siege.

Little info About Place

Lohgad is part of the Western Ghats. It is located to the southwest of the larger Visapur fort. The range divides the basins of the Indrayani and Pavana rivers. Lohgad overlooks the Pavana reservoir, located to the south of the mountain. The hill extends to the northwest to a fortified spur, called Vinchukata (Scorpion's tail) because of its resembling shape. The four large gates of Lohgad are still in good condition and reasonably intact.
The fort as seen from its base during monsoon

During the monsoon, the top of the fort is covered with mist and clouds and becomes particularly wet with growing moss. The roads and trails leading to the hill are quite slippery at this time of the year and precautions are necessary to be taken while venturing the routes.

Rappelling (English Name) also known as abseiling (German Name) is a method of a quick and safe descend after a climb. It’s an act of descending a mountain face by sliding down a rope, which is attached to a body harness and fastened to an overhead projection, with sufficient friction provided as to make the speed of descent controllable.

The only difference here is we will be rappelling down through a flowing waterfall, pouring water on us as we come down.

It’s the best exercise to overcome the fear of height. Feel the thrill of suspension at the height of about 100 feet’s. Come experience the incredible feeling of success and accomplishment when you touch the ground.

Mapping Journeys is celebrating the Independence day on Kohoj Fort on 15th August, 2014!

Heart-Shaped Lake, Bastions, Cisterns, Temples and above all, a man - shaped pinnacle.

Looking at the well-dug cisterns, the fort can be said to be belonging to Bhoj-period. However, no such evidences are available. What is known about this fort is that Kohoj was under Portuguese colonies in 16th century. They fortified it and later Peshwas conquered this fort in 1737. The moderate hike to the top is a freshening experience.

Our journey will start with the last Karjat local on sat 9th night, we will reach Neral by 1.40am. Will leave for Khandas in a private vehicle. We will take some rest & after breakfast will start trek via Shidi ghat (Ladder Route).It will take appx 4 hrs to reach bhimashankar then we will move towards Gupt Bhimashankar and take lunch and site seeing. We will descend via Ganesh Ghat. So we will complete both famous routes in a single trek.

Shivthar Ghal - Shivtharghal is a cavern inside a cliff, in which saint Ramadas resided for 12 years, and created the famous work “Das-bodh”.: The Mores ruled over the region of Javali where Shivthar Ghal is situated. This place is strategically important and very difficult to conquer. Chandrarao was the title conferred upon them by Adilshah. Shivaji Maharaj defeated them and brought this region under his control in 1648. Ramdas Swami came to reside here in 1649, and stayed till 1660. Before proceeding on “Dakshin Digvijay”, his great campaign in the southern India in 1776, Shivaji Maharaj took Ramdas Swami’s blessings here. For many years this place was undiscovered. However in 1930, 300 years after Shivaji Maharaj was born, Shankar Krishna Dev, an eminent follower of Ramdas Swami, discovered this great pilgrimage.

Short Info: Kalsubai Peak is the Highest Peak of the Sahyadris (1646M) in the Akole Taluka of Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra. Here is a list of all the things that we need to carry:

1. A haversack to put in all the things to be carried. So that one has hands free while trekking.

2. A bottle of water (1.5 ltr).

3. Scarf for Ladies is a MUST while rappelling.

4. Camera (Optional).

5. Electoral / Energy powder, 2 Lemon, some snacks & biscuits (optional).

6. Torch with extra batteries.

7. Personal medicines & 2 plastic bags for weight distribution, mosquito’s cream.

8. A good trekking shoes.

9. And most important: A sense of adventure.

The charges for the event are Rs. 750/- per head, which includes travelling from Bhivpuri to Bhivpuri, breakfast, equipment and expertise charges.

Extra Rappelling will cost Rs 500/- Per Rappel, and will be permitted only after every person has done with his first chance.
