Trek O Phy : Photography Tour to Mandu & Maheshwar on 28-29 September 2013

$

Dear Friends,
We at Trek O Phy, invite you for over a weekend trip to Mandavgad (Mandu) to witness India’s finest examples of Afghan architecture, clinging to the edges of a ravine-riddled 20-sq-km plateau overlooking the hazy plains. With monuments on every corner – from Rupmati’s Pavilion, scene of India’s Romeo and Juliet, to obscure ruins such as the wet nurse’s tomb, and of course the Incredible monuments of The Royal Enclave  – the mountain village has a ‘lost world’ atmosphere.
Following with a beautiful evening at Maheshwar - a glorious temple town on the banks of the Narmada River.

About the Destinations :

Mandavgad (Mandu) :
Mandu is a celebration in stone, of life and joy, A tribute to the love shared between the poet-prince Baz Bahadur and his beautiful consort, Rani Roopmati. The balladeers of Malwa still sing of their euphoric romance.

Perched along the Vindhya ranges at an altitude of 2,000 feet, Mandu, with its natural defenses, was originally the fort capital of the Parmar rulers of Malwa. Towards the end of the 13th century, it came under the sway of the Sultans of Malwa, the first of whom named it Shadiabad - 'city of joy'. And indeed the pervading spirit of Mandu was of gaiety; and its rulers built exquisite palaces like the Jahaz and Hindola Mahals, ornamental canals, baths and pavilions, as graceful and refined as those times of peace and plenty.

Each of Mandu's structures is an architectural gem; some are outstanding like the massive Jami Masjid and Hoshang Shah's tomb, which provided inspiration to the master builders of the Taj Mahal centuries later.

Maheshwar :
Maheshwar was a glorious city at the dawn of Indian civilization when it was Mahishmati, capital of king Kartivarjun. This temple town on the banks of the river Narmada finds mention in the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. Revived to its ancient position of importance by the Holkar queen Rani Ahilyabai of Indore. Maheshwar's temples and mighty fort-complex stand in quiet beauty, mirrored in the river below.

Maheshwar, the temple city, situated on the banks of the Narmada river where the pilgrims and holy men spent hours in silent meditation, the rows of poised women who carry glinting brass pots down to the holy, life giving river, and the commuter boat which cross and re-cross through the gushing waters are really wonderful experiences one cannot forget.

Today, Maheshwar is also known for its distinctive handwoven sarees called Maheshwari exquisitely woven ‘Maheshwari’ sarees.

Aquarius Peak Adventure:-Trek to Kalsubai Peak on 31st August 2013

Hallo Friends,
Welcome to Aquarius Peak Adventure.

"Aquarius Peak Adventure" have arranged Trek to Kalsubai Peak on 31st August 2013

Brief Introduction about Kalsubai:
Region: Igatpuri
Fort Height: 5400 ft.
Type: Hill
Grade: Easy
District: Ahmednagar

Kalsubai Peak (Marathi: कळसूबाईशिखर) is the highest peak (1646 meters) of the Sahyadris in Akola Taluka, of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
Kalsubai temple is located at the top most peak of Sahyadri mountain range of Maharashtra. To reach the summit there are various trekking routes and animal tracks. The main route starts from the village of Bari which is about six km from Bhandardara.
The main route to the temple is at small climbing slope. It usually takes three hours to reach the top from Bari. Soon after leaving Bari, a small stream is crossed followed soon after by a Hanuman temple. The route from behind this temple takes the hiker straight to the summit. There are three iron ladders along this route. There is a well near the last iron ladder as one approaches the top but the water is not potable during the summer. The rest of the route is without water, so it is best to fill water bottles in Bari. It is an easy hike, but parts of it are quite steep in places. The vastly spread out backwaters of Bhandardara attracts ones attention from the top.
To the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej, Harihargad, Brahmagiri, Anjaneri, Ghargad, Bahula, Tringalwadi, Kavnai can be seen. To the east one can spot Aundha, Vishramgad, Bitangad, to the west Alang, Madangad, Kulang, Ratangad (south west) and to the south Pabhargad, Ghanchakkar, Harishchandragad can be seen. Details for the event: Rappelling
Location: DIKSAL, Bhivpuri.           Height:Approx. 120 feet    Grade: Thrilling
Rappelling also known as Abseiling is a method of a quick and safe descend after a climb. It’s an act of descending a mountain face by sliding down a rope, which is attached to a body harness and fastened to an overhead projection, with sufficient friction provided as to make the speed of descent controllable.
The only difference here is we will be rappelling down through a flowing waterfall, pouring water on us as we come down.
It’s the best exercise to overcome the fear of height. Feel the thrill of suspension at the height of about 100 feet’s. Come experience the incredible feeling of success and accomplishment when you touch the ground.
