  Bhigwan   Bhigwan is a small town around 100 kms away from Pune and is also referred to as the "Bharatpur of Maharashtra", as it becomes a hotbed of migratory birds during the winter. Bhigwan is at one end of the huge Yashwant Sagar reservoir, forming the backwaters of the Ujain dam. One of the main attractions during the migratory season is the arrival of the pink greater flamingos. Bhivpuri Dam and a hydro-electricity generation  plant of Tata Power is located nearby. Ratangad (Marathi: रतनगड) is a fort in Ratan Wadi, Maharashtra, India, overlooking the locale of Bhandardara, one of the oldest artificial catchment area. The fort is about 2000 years old.Ratangad has a natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top which is called 'Nedhe' or 'Eye of the Needle'. The fort has four gates Ganesh, Hanuman, Konkan and Trimbak. It also has many wells on the top. Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle. The base village Ratanwadi has an Amruteshwar temple which is famous for its carvings. The fort is origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The Bhandardara dam (arthar dam) is built on this river.The main attraction at Ratanwadi is the Amruteshwar temple dating back to the Hemadpant Era - roughly from the eighth century.The base village Ratanwadi is approached by boat from Bhandardara. Matheran can be accessed through various entry points, but most scenic route is Panvel-Matheran through Sunset point. This route crosses a village, climbs up a ridge, enters a forest and enters Matheran through the sunset point   Grade: Easy   Brief Itinerary: 26th January, Republic Day 07:15 - Gather at Panvel Station and move to base village 08:30 - Reach Base Village; Have Introduction, Breakfast and Tea 09:30 - Start trekking to the Matheran – Sunset point, 13:00 - Reach Sunset Point. Explore around and have lunch. 14:00 - After lunch, we can go for Lousiana point and then move to Matheran Bazaar 16:00 - Take cab from Dasturi naka for Neral Station. Trek ends here for those who want to take cab instead of descending.
