We are happy to invite you all for an exciting & amazing Monsoon trek to Kalavantini Durg on 16th August 2015. Hill Fort Height : 2300 Feet above MSL (Approx) Grade : Medium / Endurance Level: Medium Base Village:Thakurwadi Region : Panvel Trek Leader : Priyanka Jangid, Vishnu Mestry, Rehan Meeting point at Panvel ST Depot - 7.30 AM Kalavantin Durg is situated on northeast side of Panvel on Mumbai-Pune road. This Fort is looking like a pinnacle and one can see it from express highway a V-Shaped one. The Left one is Kalwantin Durg & right side is Prabalgad. The route is pretty easy and wide, thrilling part of the climb is the rock-cut steps that lead to its pinnacle. In monsoon particularly, one gets the feel of climbing through the clouds, which makes this trek pretty exciting.The fort top commands an excellent view of the surroundings with Prabal in the front. Matheran, Chanderi, Shrimallang, Irshal Karnala, Manikgad, etc can be easily identified.Kalavantin durg is a adjoining hill (pinnacle) to Prabalgad. Itinerary of the Event: Meeting Point: Panvel ST stand 7.30 am Travel to the base village Thakurwadi by bus or any source Start Trekking after Introduction and Information. DGS: Durgdarshan have arranged a 1 Day mansoon trek Kondhane waterfall and kondhane caves on sunday 9th Aug 2015 Meeting Point: Karjat Station 08:45 AM Inviting you all to One day trek to Kondhivade (Kondhane) Caves/Waterfall..on a journey to the 8 Buddhist caves of the Hinayana Buddhist tradition which is a one hour trek from the Kondane village.The Kondana caves enclose sculptures, vihara, cahitya and stupas, specimens of ancient Buddhist architecture. Although there was an earth quake in the early 1900s many stupas, the front entrance and the floor of the caves were damaged. Grade: Easy At a height of 2200 feet, Sudhagad alias Bhorapgad has a huge platue of around 50 acres which offers a wonderful camping site. It has a punishment point called Takmak tok, an ancient Bhoraidevi temple and a grand Mahadrwaja. There is a secred chor daarwaja near the Mahadarwaja which if accessible can be used to reach the bottom of the Mahadarwaja bastions. From the Sudhagad platue you can see the ominously standing Tel baila which looks like a giant movie screen rising up from the platue opposite the Sudhagad platue. The nearest from from here is Ghangad and Sarasgad. If the skies are clear Dukes nose, Koraigad are also visible in the northeast behind Tel-baila.The fort lies in the Raigad region. After Pen on the Mumbai Goa highway you come to Pali which is also famous for one of the Ashtavinayak temples. HistorySudhagad fort is believed to have been in existence since 200 BC. The Bhora devi temple on top is said to have been built by Sage Bhrug Rishi. The rulers of Bhor dynasty were worshippers of Bhoraidevi. The first reference of Sudhagad is in the year 1436 when theBahamani Sultan won over the fort. In 1657 the fort came under the control of Marathas and the name was changed from Bhorapgad to Sudhagad.
