Posted: 08 Jul 2015 11:21 PM PDT Dear Friends we invite you all for One Day Trek to Kalsubai highest peak of Maharashtra 18 July 2015 Leaving Friday Night 17th July 2015. Kalsubai Peak is the highest peak (1646 meters) of the Sahyadris on the border of Igatpuri Taluka, Nashik district and Akole Taluka, of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. 'Kalsubai' temple is located at the top most peak of Sahyadri mountain range of Maharastra. The main route starts from the village of Bari which is about six km from Bhandardara. The main route to the temple is at small climbing slope . It usually takes three hours to reach the top from Bari. There small huts in this area who could be very helpful in case of any emergency. There are three iron ladders along this route. There is a well near thelast iron ladder as one approaches the top but the water is not potable during the summer. The rest of the route is without water, so it is best to fillwater bottles in Bari. It is an easy hike, but parts of it are quite steep. Reptiles like lizards and snakes could be spotted sun-bathing during wintermornings near the ladders. The vastly spread out backwaters of Bhandardara attracts ones attention from the top. To the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej, Harihargad, Brahmagiri, Anjaneri, Ghargad, Bahula, Tringalwadi, Kavnai can be seen. To the east one can spot Aundha, Vishramgad, Bitangad, to the west Alang, Madangad, Kulang, Ratangad (south west) and to the south Pabhargad, Ghanchakkar, Harishchandragad can be seen.Fort info:Type: PeakHeight: 5400 Feet above MSL (Approx)Grade: EasyBase Village: Bari. Posted: 08 Jul 2015 09:03 AM PDT Dear Rangers, We at Wild Rangers glad to invite you all for thrilling trek to Harihar Fort on 19 July 2015 (Overnight Journey on 18 July) About Harihar The fort of Harihar lies in the Trimbakeshwar range. It was of substantial importance in earlier days to keep watch on the route crossing the range connecting Maharashtra to Gujarat.Trimbakeshwar range spreads from north of Igatpuri to west of Nasik. It is divided in two parts, with forts of Basgad, Utvad, hill of Fani, Harihar and Trimbakgad on one part and those of Anjaneri and Hargad on the other. Vaitarna is the main river in this region. The water flows away from this region because of the one – sided slope of Sahyadris. There is an absolute shortage of water from January to March in this region. The fort appears to be rectangular in shape from its base village and is located on top of a triangular massif with all the three sides being vertical and hence naturally fortified.
