Mumbra Devi Temple Mumbra Devi Temple is situated in Parsik Hill. It is a temple situated at a height of 210 meters appx above sea level. One has to climb numerous steps in order to reach temple. An average person can reach the temple under 20 mins. The Mumbra Devi temple can be seen from the local train as the the train approaches Mumbra. It looks as if its near but is at a great height. One can see whole plains from the temple. The temple is made in rocks and now concrete structures are built. After the Sunset once the lights of the Mumbra starts one can witness the beauty of the Mumbra by night. (Information: Courtesy Internet) This photo walk is for whom? Start the ascend from mumbra station. Reach at top by 6:00 pm. Take the blessings of Mumbra Devi. Wait till sunset and setup your cameras  on tripod. Experience the beauty of Mumbra. Click some beautiful images with Long exposures. Literally, the name nane means "coin" and ghat means "pass". The walls of this pass come out from the main range and hence command a magnificent view of the great bend in the Sahyadri. This is a pass, which once in history, enjoyed prime importance. The inscriptions, the steps, the rock-cut rest houses, and the cisterns all point out the historic fact that this route was frequently used as far back as the 1st century B.C. Mahuli Fort at 2815 ft., this is a popular trekking destination and a paradise for rock-climbers because of many nearby pinnacles with interesting names like Vazir, Vishnu, etc., given by the local trekking and climbing fraternity. This mountain complex is actually a group of two or more hills with common cols and pinnacles. It is the highest point in the Thane district. The forest surrounding Mahuli has been declared as a sanctuary. Once Shahaji Raje father of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had this fortress under his belt. The fort has been declared as a protected monument. Besides an open Shiva temple there is a small perennial drinking water cistern on top, three caves of which the larger can be used as overnight shelter, like as on many other such natural hill forts of Maharashtra Western Ghats (Sahyadri Range). There is a stone arch historically known as the 'Kalyan Darwaja' but the dome of the arch is now broken. Kalsubai is the highest peak of the Sahyadri in Maharashtra. Fireflies make light by a process is called bioluminescence to attract a mate. The time just before the rains arrive gives us the opportunity to witness a beautiful spectacle of dazzling fireflies. It's the mating season for these fireflies & as a result thousands of them light up around trees and shrubs making it a beautiful sight.   Naneghat is a mountain pass in the Western Ghats range near Junnar.
