      Rules and regulations.

Do understand that we do not arrange picnics. It follows that if one seeks luxury and absolute comfort then we can hardly help them. ;)
Offbeat sahyadri believe in being one with nature and that is possible only when we shed all city slicker attitudes. Of course by that we do not suggest that one should be ready for any kind of nonsense.
Utmost care is taken to ensure safety of the group and care is taken that no one is inconvenienced because of factors within our control.
We do expect our offbeater friends to understand group dynamics and leave at home their individuality. They should be prepared to share and care. That makes and all the physical and mental exhaustion forgettable and the trek itself becomes unforgettable! Trust us on this.

      Now some basic codes.
      Respect nature.
      1)   Absofreakinglutely no littering! Carry your own trash. If you are found littering then we will request you to pick it up. Friends, it is really not nice to throw garbage around and it only reflects upon us. Will we do this to our own houses? J.

      REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!
      2)   Do not disturb the flora and fauna. No making pretty bouquets of grabbed flowers and blooms. No feeding and intimidating birds and other animals. Think how you would feel if someone barges into your house and threatens you. The jungle is THEIR home. So, Capital N O= NO!

      3)   Remember, the mountain has a mind of his own. Beware and do not make the mistake of taking him for granted. It sounds weird but it’s true.

      With fellow trekkers.
      1)   It is fun to interact and get to know people from different walks of life. Feel free to take the opportunity to expand your social circles.
      2)   Share water and food. Nothing else is a better ice breaker than being offered water or a bite of your sandwich!
      3)   Care for your fellow trekkers. It is not nice to be self centered and unamicable.

      For your own safety
      1)   The organizers and you yourself are equally responsible for your safety. We cannot take the blame for injuries or inconveniences arising out of actions outside the organizers instructions and acts of nature.
      2)   Simply put, stay with the group. Do not rush far too ahead or lag too behind. We understand that everyone has a different stamina and we try to keep the group bound together.
      3)   Do not wander off from the main trail. Whenever there is no established trail, strictly stay with the group. Be within the sight of the person ahead of you and the one behind you. It helps.
      4)   One must understand that the group leader is responsible for the entire group and may have to take some tough decisions at times. If one expects a memorable experience with us then we expect full cooperation and discipline. To sum up, the leader’s decision will be final and binding on all offbeaters.

      5)    Finally, the non arguable part. Smoking and other forms of tobacco use and alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.

      Regards,
      Team OffBeat Sahyadri

Celebrate Diwali differently this year on 12 October 2014,

TreksandTrails, and OffBeat Sahyadri invites you to celebrate this Diwali differently.
Come, join us in lighting smiles in rural Maharashtra in distribution on 12th October, 2014.

      About:
After a successful old clothes collection drive and distribution last year. We have planned a similar initiative this year. The old clothes drive will start two months prior to our visit to the village of Komshet near Kasara. Not to be mistaken for Kamshet near Pune. This village is a group of 7 small wadi. Each wadi has 05 -12 houses. Offbeat Sahyadri has already been to this village last year and conducted a similar initiative. This year we plan to cover all the 7 wadi of this village. That is where you contribute.

Be a volunteer: You can volunteer and collect contribution from your own building society members or office colleagues. Remember more the merrier.
Call any one of our volunteers at the nearest railway station and we shall pickup your contribution.

      The details are as follows:

Start drive for collection: 15 August 2014
Last day for collection 01 October 2014
      Distribution on: 12 October 2014

      How and what to contribute:
Clean and neatly folded clothes in reusable condition to be offered for charity.
Patron need to ensure that that the clothes are not torn or worn out. Stationary, old used toys, eatables like chocolates other sweets etc (expiration date beyond December 2014)
Every patron needs to also contribute old newspaper only (rahdi). Sales proceeds from the newspaper will help us cover transportation and other overhead expenses.
We will accept cash contribution - however no receipt shall be issued (call us to get banking info).
You can also contribute by giving raw uncooked food grains, general use medicines.

Note: Torn, dirty, unfolded clothes will be not be accepted. Remember it’s to be given for Diwali

      Our Goal:
Conduct regular such event in the same village for the next 2 years.
Also conduct tree plantation drive next year in the village. Create awareness about using alternative energy for fuel.

Hey mates, we at Trekking Paradise are glad to invite you for one day trek to Mahuli near Asangaon on Sunday,21st September 2014. Some Information about the fort:Type: Hill FortHeight: 2815 Feet above MSL (Approx)Grade: MediumRegion: ThaneBase Village: MahuliTrek Leader: Rohan Vaidya/ Suraj More Mahuli-Fort is a beautiful mountain terrain located in the outskirts of Thane District of Maharashtra. Situated at a height of 2,815 feet, the destination is surrounded by dense forest, which is declared as a natural reserve. The history of Mahuli-Fort is marked with various events dating back to the 15th century. In 1485, the fort was under the rule of the Nizam Shahi Dynasty. When Shahaji Raje became the secretary of Nijamshahi, Mughals of Delhi tried to end Nijamshahi. In 1635-36, Shahaji Raje transferred himself with Jijabai and Shivaji Maharaj to Mahuli. When Khan Jaman attacked the fort, Shahaji asked Portuguese for help, who refused and Shahaji surrendered. Shivaji Maharaj took this fort from Mughals on 8 Jan 1658. In 1661 it was given back and was won again by Shivaji Maharaj. In treaty of Purandar, in 1665, Marathas lost these forts again. In Feb 1670, Shivaji Maharaj tried to conquer Mahuli, but failed, Manohardas Gaud, was the in charge of the fort. A thousand Marathas were killed. Manohardas Gaud, soon gave up his position and Alveerdi Beg took over. On 16 June 1670, after two months, Moropant Pingle conquered the forts and Mahuli, Bhandargad and Palasgad became part of Swarajya. Till 1817, Shivaji Maharaj's dynasty owned the fort but later on it was controlled by the British Raj.
