People who are keen about nature, flora and fauna this is the place for you.

Situated at 25 km from the satara city, Kaas is the place where 100s of varieties of flowers blossom in this season turning the plateau into beds of different colours. It looks like carpets of flowers laying on the ground, yellow carpets of Smithia and Sonki flowers, Pink carpets of Balsam, Purple carpets of Karvi and many more..... The color of the carpets keeps on changing with time depending on the dominant flowers at the time.

Looking over the water catchment area of the huge koyna Dam, it blends with the lush green forest in the protected area.
The best place to appreciate natures beauty, and and heaven for macro photographers, its a must visit place for all nature lovers.

Wide availability of flowers, nectar attract insects which feed on them and they attract birds which feed on them. Birds like Crested Buntings, Malabar Crested Larks, Oriental White-eyes, Bonelli’s Eagle and commonly sighted at Kaas.

Rules and regulations.

Do understand that we do not arrange picnics. It follows that if one seeks luxury and absolute comfort then we can hardly help them. ;)
Offbeat sahyadri believe in being one with nature and that is possible only when we shed all city slicker attitudes. Of course by that we do not suggest that one should be ready for any kind of nonsense.
Utmost care is taken to ensure safety of the group and care is taken that no one is inconvenienced because of factors within our control.
We do expect our offbeater friends to understand group dynamics and leave at home their individuality. They should be prepared to share and care. That makes and all the physical and mental exhaustion forgettable and the trek itself becomes unforgettable! Trust us on this.

Now some basic codes.
Respect nature.
1)   Absofreakinglutely no littering! Carry your own trash. If you are found littering then we will request you to pick it up. Friends, it is really not nice to throw garbage around and it only reflects upon us. Will we do this to our own houses? J.
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!
2)   Do not disturb the flora and fauna. No making pretty bouquets of grabbed flowers and blooms. No feeding and intimidating birds and other animals. Think how you would feel if someone barges into your house and threatens you. The jungle is THEIR home. So, Capital N O= NO!

3)   Remember, the mountain has a mind of his own. Beware and do not make the mistake of taking him for granted. It sounds weird but it’s true.

With fellow trekkers.
1)   It is fun to interact and get to know people from different walks of life. Feel free to take the opportunity to expand your social circles.
2)   Share water and food. Nothing else is a better ice breaker than being offered water or a bite of your sandwich!
3)   Care for your fellow trekkers. It is not nice to be self centered and unamicable.

For your own safety
1)   The organizers and you yourself are equally responsible for your safety. We cannot take the blame for injuries or inconveniences arising out of actions outside the organizers instructions and acts of nature.
2)   Simply put, stay with the group. Do not rush far too ahead or lag too behind. We understand that everyone has a different stamina and we try to keep the group bound together.
3)   Do not wander off from the main trail. Whenever there is no established trail, strictly stay with the group. Be within the sight of the person ahead of you and the one behind you. It helps.
4)   One must understand that the group leader is responsible for the entire group and may have to take some tough decisions at times. If one expects a memorable experience with us then we expect full cooperation and discipline. To sum up, the leader’s decision will be final and binding on all offbeaters.

5)    Finally, the non arguable part. Smoking and other forms of tobacco use and alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.

Hello Vibers,We are glad to invite you for trek to Harishchandragad via Pachnai on 13-14th September 2014. Harishchandragad-The fort is quite ancient. Remnants of Microlithic man have been discovered here. The various Puranas (ancient scriptures) like Matsyapurana, Agnipurana and Skandapurana include many references about Harishchandragad. Its origin is said to have been in 6th century, during the rule of Kalchuri dynasty. The citadel was built during this era. The various caves probably have been carved out in the 11th century. In these caves are idols of Lord Vishnu. Though the cliffs are named Taramati and Rohidas, they are not related to Ayodhya. Great sage Changdev (one who created the epic "Tatvasaar"), used to meditate here in 14th century. The caves are from the same period. The various constructions on the fort and those existing the surrounding region point to the existence of diverse cultures here. The carvings on the temples of Nageshwar (in Khireshwar village), in the Harishchandreshwar temple and in the cave of Kedareshwar indicate that the fort belongs to the medieval period, since it is related to Shaiva, Shakta or Naath. Later the fort was under the control of Moguls. The Marathas captured it in 1747. Dear Rangers,
“Wild Rangers” have arranged Trek to Kalsubai Peak on 13-14th September 2014

Date
Date(s) - 13/09/2014 - 14/09/2014

Location
Kalsubai

Categories

Brief Information
Kalsubai Peak (Marathi: कळसूबाई शिखर) is the highest peak (1646 meters) of the Sahyadris in Akola Taluka, of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.

Kalsubai temple is located at the top most peak of Sahyadri mountain range of Maharashtra. To reach the summit there are various trekking routes and animal tracks. The main route starts from the village of Bari which is about six km from Bhandardara.

The main route to the temple is at small climbing slope. It usually takes three hours to reach the top from Bari. Soon after leaving Bari, a small stream is crossed followed soon after by a Hanuman temple. The route from behind this temple takes the hiker straight to the summit. There are three iron ladders along this route. There is a well near the last iron ladder as one approaches the top but the water is not potable during the summer. The rest of the route is without water, so it is best to fill water bottles in Bari. It is an easy hike, but parts of it are quite steep in places. The vastly spread out backwaters of Bhandardara attracts ones attention from the top.

To the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej, Harihargad, Brahmagiri, Anjaneri, Ghargad, Bahula, Tringalwadi, Kavnai can be seen. To the east one can spot Aundha, Vishramgad, Bitangad, to the west Alang, Madangad, Kulang, Ratangad (south west) and to the south Pabhargad, Ghanchakkar, Harishchandragad can be seen. (Source-WiKi)

Ramdas swami remains an inspiration for the technique he developed in infusing Nationalism and Dharmic devotion among ordinary people across the country by his concept of Hanuman temple, akhaada and a Paathashaalain every village. His emphasis on Rashtra chintana along with spiritualsadhana is more relevant today than it was anytime before.

Thoseghar Waterfall
Thoseghar is very famous for its high Waterfalls. One of which is around 500 meters tall. Thoseghar is a wonderful place for nature lovers. These Waterfalls are very attractive and creates a loud noise in the calm nature.

Kalyangad Fort
Kalyangad is also known as Nandgiri fort. This fort was built by king Bhoj-II of Shilahar dynasty as mentioned in the copper plate inscription found in Satara. This fort appears to be built in between 1178 to 1209. It appears from many copper plate inscriptions of Shilahar kings that they gave many donations to Jain people. It has been proved that this fort is built by Shilahar Kings, as many statues of Lord Parshvanath are found in the cave on Kalyangad.

Black Diamond athlete Cody Roth has spent the last few years living and climbing in Austria and throughout Europe. As of late, however, he has returned to his home state of New Mexico. High on Cody’s hit list was a repeat of Date With Death, an old-school 5.13+ testpiece in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness above Albuquerque. Here is a video that we edited together from footage that lensman Andrew Burr shot of Cody touring the sweet sights of the ABQ and tackling Date With Death.

      Hornbill Festival
This vibrant and vivacious festival celebrates the cultural diversity of the Naga tribes. Celebrated every year from 1st to the 7th of December it brings all the tribes under one roof. With every tribe having festive dances at different times of the year it is usually a difficult proposition to witness the varied dances. This festival, thus gives an opportunity not only to the outside world to witness the spectacle but also allows the other Naga tribes to experience the dances and customs of their counterparts form across the state.
Over a period of seven days the dances, rituals and traditional sports of the sixteen tribes are showcased in great pomp and glory. More significantly, dance troupes from all the other North Eastern states join the extravaganza, providing the onlooker with an exclusive glimpse into the cultural diversity of the entire North East. Not surprisingly, in recent years the festival has gone truly global with dance troupes from South Korea, Thailand and Myanmar entering the fray to showcase their talents.

Have you ever imagined walking through a rainforest with a dense overhead canopy; created by towering trees whose tops seem to vanish into the sky and tall bamboos whose tops seem magnetically attracted to each other forming long continuous archways through which one can continue trekking, getting a glimpse of the life that lives beneath this awe-inspiring canopy whenever the sun manages to break through the foliage, listening to the hooting of the Hornbills and the Gibbons, and watching wide-eyed the fluttering of the multi coloured butterflies.

Ever dreamt of trekking in an ecosystem that is home to over 100 mammals, 300 birds and a thousand other life forms? A forest so rich in diversity that every inch is teeming with life that you can come across at any moment – while crossing streams on rickety foot bridges , jumping over large tree trunks which block the road or while ascending/descending the gentle climbs that dot the path. Such is the allure of Namdapha.

          Namdapha National Park
Namdapha National Park located on the eastern tip of Arunachal Pradesh is a paradise – a Mecca for nature lovers. This rainforest extending well over 2000 sq. kms. is a biodiversity hotspot containing more than 1000 species of plants, 500 species of birds, 350 butterflies and many more smaller forms of life. This is the only park which boasts of having big large cats namely tiger, leopard, clouded leopard and now leopard, despite which it is difficult to see any of them or their prey due to the dense forestation. But this is more than made up enjoying the humongous trees and appreciating the smaller forms of life giving us a better understanding of the web of life.

Like to tread the untamed path?? Looking for raw adventure? Then Arunachal is the place for you. Dense virgin forests. Spectacular snow capped mountains. Gushing rivers cutting deep gorges. Few other places in the world come close to the raw, rugged beauty of Arunachal Pradesh.
This January, we take you on an adrenaline pumping journey, into the remote valleys of Arunachal Pradesh where we will trek in forests and raft down class IV rapids on one of the mightiest rivers in the world. This adventure trip has been designed not only to introduce you to the pristine water experience that the Siang offers, but also to immerse you into the culture of the local Adi tribe.

Get ready to plunge into the whirling rapids of the mighty Siang, for a ride of a lifetime

          Siang River

The Siang River system is South Asia’s longest and largest freely-flowing waterway, steeped in exploratory legend and tribal culture. It is the fourth largest river by discharge volume, carrying 700 thousand cubic feet per second of water making it one of the finest white water locations in Asia and perhaps in the world.

          Rafting on the Siang

The gorges of river Siang are supposed to be the ultimate challenge for any rafter/kayaker. Our journey begins with a boat ride from Dibrugarh to Pasighat, where the river enters the plains of Assam. From here, a three day journey on road and foot, through remote tribal villages belonging to the Adi, Mishmi and Aka tribes and the densely forested landscape of Central Arunachal, brings us to our starting point, Pangi. We commence our rafting trip by gently paddling from Pangi to our beach camp in Sissen, encountering the popular “Rottung” and “Pongging Punch” rapids on subsequent days.

Cost per person (For Indian Nationals): Rs.56,000/- (Ex Dibrugarh)

Dudhsagar Waterfall Trek & Wildlife Excursion on 19th September 2014 for 2 nights by OneLife Adventa

          $

          0

OneLife Adventa brings to you a unique trek to Dudhsagar Falls on the Goa-Karnataka border. It is a track-trek because you will be trekking through the railway tracks of Konkan railway with breath-taking views of the valley and the falls. Along with the trek, we will be also spending a day at the Margao city in Goa. The trip also includes a wildlife excursion to the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary where birdwatchers will get a real treat.

About Dudhsagar Waterfalls– Dudhsagar Falls (literally Sea of Milk) is a 4 tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River in the Indian state of Goa on Goa's border with Karnataka state. It is 60 km from Panaji city by road and 46 km from Madgaon railway junction by train.
The waterfall is located in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wild Life Sanctuary at Collem in South Goa in the Western Ghats. The waterfall is on the border of Karnataka and Goa states. The roads leading to it are maintained by the Goa Forest Department.
Legend has it that a beautiful princess lived in the forest (near present day Dudhsagar Falls) in a palace. She loved and enjoyed bathing in a lake nearby and used to drink "sweetened milk" from her "golden jug" after finishing with her bath. One day while enjoying her jug of milk she found herself being watched by a prince, who was standing amongst the trees. Red with embarrassment at her inadequate bathing attire, she poured the jug of milk in front of him to form an improvised curtain to hide her body while the maids rushed to cover her with her dress. It is said that it is that sweetened milk that cascades down the mountain slope as Dudhsagar Falls to this day as a tribute to the virtue and modesty of the princess.

Dudhsagar is one of the world's most exquisite falls. It lies high up in the Mandovi River's watershed and so are not particularly spectacular during the dry season. During the monsoon season however, the falls are transformed into one of the most powerful falls in India. Dudhsagar Falls is listed as India's fifth tallest waterfall and is 227th in the world at 310 m. The water plummets hundreds of metres (over a thousand feet) in large volumes during the rainy monsoon season, forming one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in Goa. It is a major part of the Goa ecosystem. It is a four-tiered waterfall with a total height of 310 metres (1017 feet) and an average width of 30 metres (100 feet).
