A little information about Harihar Fort is as follows,

Among the beautiful neighborhood of Kasara Ghat, Igatpuri, Trimbak and Nashik; Harihar stands still around 3500 ft high above MSL in Trimbak district with base village Nirgudpada. This hill fort lies in Trimbak fort range with Selbari – Dolbari and Ajanta – Satmal range. The fort is also neighbored by Upper Vaitarna dam which is the largest water supplying lake for Mumbai. Fort’s rectangular shape makes it look more beautiful from the base village.

Now about the fort’s approach, it has got around 3 hours of nature trail. The trail to the fort top is very beautiful and covered with fresh and balmy wind in the rainy season. The fog and clouds add up to your pleasure while approaching fort top. It also adds up to adventure to climb the steps carved in rock of the fort. This is very simple trek for those who want to get introduced to trekking and to the Shayadri this is a good place to start. The fort has a large cave on top and has a pinnacle, which is carved from inside and made into a staircase to reach the top. For the trek we will travel from Karjat to a place called Ambivili via Kashele. From Ambvili we start our walk to Peth village, which is just at the foot of the Peth Fort. The quiet and picturesque path goes up a minor hillock. In about 45 minutes we reached a point where we got an amazing view of the valley on our right. The climb is straightforward. We reach the entrance of the fort in about 45 minutes. From the top, one gets a lovely view of all the surrounding hill faces like Bheemashankar range, Wandre Khind and on careful observation the Mumbai-Pune railway and the Matheran region can be seen in the west.

Cost Per Person -Rs 1300/- per person which is inclusive of transport, BF, Lunch and evening Tea. limited seats available.. so hurry up.

last date to confirm for the trek is Wednesday

The Visapur fort is located on its eastern side. The four large gates of Lohagad are still in good condition and reasonably intact. Historical records show that in the later Peshwa period, Nana Phadnavis (1742-1800 AD) built several structures in the fort such as a big tank and a step-well (bawali).

On the west side, there is a long and narrow wall-like fortified spur called Vinchukata (Marathi for Scorpion's tail) because of shape.Lohagad has a long history with several dynasties occupying it at different periods of time: Satavahanas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Yadavas, Bahamanis, Nizamshahis, Mughals and Marathas. Shivaji captured it in 1648 CE, but he was forced to surrender it to the Mughals in 1665 CE by the Treaty of Purandar. Shivaji recaptured the fort in 1670 CE and used it for keeping his treasury.

Rules and regulations.

Do understand that we do not arrange picnics. It follows that if one seeks luxury andabsolute comfort then we can hardly help them. ;)
Offbeat sahyadri believe in being one with nature and that is possible only when we shed all city slicker attitudes. Of course by that we do not suggest that one should be ready for any kind of nonsense.
Utmost care is taken to ensure safety of the group and care is taken that no one is inconvenienced because of factors within our control.
We do expect our offbeater friends to understand group dynamics and leave athome their individuality. They should be prepared to share and care. That makes and all the physical and mental exhaustion forgettable and the trek itself becomes unforgettable! Trust us on this.

Now some basic codes.

Respect nature.
1)    Absofreakinglutely no littering! Carry your own trash. If you are found littering then we will request you to pick it up. Friends, it is really not nice to throwgarbage around and it only reflects upon us. Will we do this to our own houses? J.
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!
2)    Do not disturb the flora and fauna. No making pretty bouquets of grabbed flowers and blooms. No feeding and intimidating birds and other animals. Think how you would feel if someone barges into your house and threatens you. The jungle is THEIR home. So, Capital N O= NO!
3)    Remember, the mountain has a mind of his own. Beware and do not make the mistake of taking him for granted. It sounds weird but it’s true.

With fellow trekkers.
1)    It is fun to interact and get to know people from different walks of life. Feel free to take the opportunity   to expand your social circles.
2)    Share water and food. Nothing else is a better ice breaker than being offered water or a bite of your sandwich!
3)    Care for your fellow trekkers. It is not nice to be self centered and unamicable.

For your own safety
1)    The organizers and you yourself are equally responsible for your safety. We cannot take the blame for injuries or inconveniences arising out of actions outside the organizers instructions and acts of nature.
2)    Simply put, stay with the group. Do not rush far too ahead or lag too behind. We understand that everyone has a different stamina and we try to keep the group bound together.
3)    Do not wander off from the main trail. Whenever there is no established trail, strictly stay with the group. Be within the sight of the person ahead of you and the one behind you. It helps.
4)    One must understand that the group leader is responsible for the entire group and may have to take some tough decisions at times. If one expects a memorable experience with us then we expect full cooperation and discipline. To sum up, the leader’s decision will be final and binding on all offbeaters.
5)     Finally, the non arguable part. Smoking and other forms of tobacco use and alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.

Regards,
Team OffBeat Sahyadri
