Short Info:

Ratangad is a hill fort near Ratan Wadi, Maharashtra, India, overlooking the locale of Bhandardara, one of the oldest artificial catchment areas. The fort is about 2000 years old. Ratangad has a natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top which is called ‘Nedhe’ or ‘Eye of the Needle’. Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle and was one of his favorites. The base village Ratanwadi has an Amruteshwar temple which is famous for its carvings. The fort is origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The Bhandardara dam is built on this river.

Experience the thrill of rapelling at Vardhayani waterfall from 135ft.

Short Info:

Rappelling or abseiling is an activity used to descend a mountain or a fall in a safe way. When done on waterfall its known as waterfall rappelling. Waterfall rappelling is difficult then normal rappelling as the rock patches are slippery and falling water acts as addition obstruction.

Yatri Sahyadri has organized water fall rappelling at Kondivade Waterfall on 22^nd Sept, 2013.

Some basic information about the trek is as follows:

Program:
06:00 am(Sunday Morning) : Reporting at Dadar Station. (pls carry your own return ticket to Karjat Station).
06:30 am: Proceed to Karjat by local train. Travel time approx 2 hours.
08.00 am: We will be reach at Karjat station.

08.15 am: Proceed to Waterfall.
09:00 am to 9.30 am: Break fast & tea.
10:30am to 04.00 pm: Rappelling hours.

5.00pm: - Evening refreshment.

6.15pm:- Catch return local to Darar.

Charges : Rs. 700/- per person

Charges Include :
Morning breakfast/tea & evening snacks/tea

Equipment charges for rappelling.

Here is a list of all the things that we need to carry for the trek:

1. Your own return ticket to Karjat station.
2. Waterproof/Water resistant haversack to put in all the things to be carried. So that one has hands free while trekking.
3. A bottle of water (minimum 2Ltrs).
4. Camera (Optional), Avoid wearing Gold and other jewelry (at own risk)
5. Electoral / Enerzyl powder, 2 Lemon, some snacks & biscuits, plate,spoon, glass (all reusable, compulsory).
6. Personal medicines & 2 plastic bags for weight distribution, insect repellant cream (Odomos or similar brand).
7. A good trekking shoes and extra clothes (compulsory).

Day 01: 18th Feb : Landing at Port Blair Airport – Hotel – Sightseeing
8 am Meet & Greet on arrival at Port Blair Airport & transfer to hotel. Check-in to hotel. Afternoon visit for Corbyn’s Cove Beach which is 9 kms from Port Blair – It’s a coconut palm fringed beach, ideal for swimming, sun-basking & bathing. Then proceed for Harbour Cruise (Viper Island) in a steamer, covering seven ports, and you can see one of the big floating dry dock, the island naval harbour and mainland going vessel harbor. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Port Blair.

Day 02: 19th Feb : Port Blair – Havelock Island (57 km / 2 ½ hrs)
This morning check out from the hotel & transfer to the Port Blair Jetty to take a ferry to Havelock Island. On arrival check-in to hotel. Enjoy the afternoon at the World Famous and Asia’s best beach “Radha Nagar Beach” (Beach number 7). Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Havelock.

Day 03: 20th Feb : Excursion to Elephant Beach
After breakfast, proceed to Elephant Beach for adventurous snorkeling experience. Elephant Beach is located near the eastern coast of Havelock Island. It is approachable by Dunghi (small wooden carved fishing motor boat). Snorkeling is leisure water sports in which a person swims on the surface of water wearing the face mask and view in the underwater corals.” Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Havelock.

Day 04: 21st Feb : Havelock Island – Port Blair (57 km / 2 ½ hrs)
After breakfast check out from the hotel & transfer to the Havelock Jetty to take a ferry to Port Blair. On arrival check-in to hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Port Blair.

Day 05: 22nd Feb : City Tour
After breakfast, full-day “City Tour” of Port Blair – covering Cellular Jail, Chatham Saw Mill (one of the oldest & largest in Asia- Now closed), Forest Museum, Mini Zoo, Anthropological Museum, Naval Marine Museum (Samudrika), Andaman Water Sports Complex (for water & adventure sports like water-skiing, speed boats, water scooters, tube rides, etc.), Afternoon free for shopping and other personal activities. In the evening witness the enthralling Sound and Light Show at Cellular Jail – where the heroic saga of the Indian freedom struggle is brought alive. Overnight stay at Port Blair.

Brief Introduction of Kaas :

The Kaas Plateau where hundreds of varieties of wild flowers of all colors bloom every year,  it is situated approx. 25 Km from Satara city.

The lateritic plateau of Kaas has becomes home to millions of tiny flowers in late monsoons. The whole spectacle is beyond words.

More than 300 varieties of wild flowers, herbs, orchids, shrubs, insectivorous plants etc. can be seen here

This plateau overlooks the lush evergreen forests that serves as a water catchment area of Koyna Dam and which is recently declared as “Sahyadri Tiger reserve”
In monsoon the whole area transforms into an unbelievable carpets of flowers like yellow carpets of Smithia and Sonki flowers, Pink carpets of Balsam, Purple carpets of Karvi etc…. 

Kass plateau and the surrounding area has a very good birdlife with good sightings of Crested Buntings, Malabar Crested Larks, Oriental White-eyes, and Bonelli’s Eagle.

Sajjangad:

Samarth Ramdas lived for long time at Sajjangad, a small hillock near Satara. He breathed his last here and devotees worship his mausoleum here. This is an important centre of worship for the Ramdasi sect. Ramdas swami remains an inspiration for the technique he developed in infusing Nationalism and Dharmic devotion among ordinary people across the country by his concept of Hanuman temple, akhaada and a Paathashaala in every village. His emphasis on Rashtra chintana along with spiritual sadhana is more relevant today than it was anytime before.

‘Nakhind’ has a natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top which is called 'Nedhe' or 'Nosehole; formed by natural erosion. Why is it called as Nakhind? Cause the hill has seems itself like a Human Nose. Nakhind is noted for its gentle slope and dense forest route.

The top is a narrow forested ridge, running in the north-south direction. From one side of Nakhind we can see Chanderi Pinnacle.This gentle hill is excellent for relaxed, easy walks and nature lovers. It’s a good trek in the monsoon or in the winter.

Trek: Kalsubai

Height: Appx 5400 fts

Region: Igatpuri

Grade: Medium

 

Kalsubai is the highest peak of the Sahyadris in Maharashtra.

 

At the summit is a small temple of Kalsubai, which can seat just three people. This being the highest peak, it commands a beautiful view. The vastly spread out backwaters of Bhandardaraattracts ones attention from the top. To the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej, Harihargad, Brahmagiri, Anjaneri, Ghargad, Bahula, Tringalwadi, Kavnai can be seen. To the east one can spot Aundha, Vishramgad, Bitangad, to the west Alang, Madangad, Kulang, Ratangad (south west) and to the south Pabhargad, Ghanchakkar, Harishchandragadcan be seen.

Since Kalsubai is extremely famous, enough effort has been made to make this trek easy. There are steel railings, chains and ladders at places where it is difficult to climb.

Info About The Event :

Height:  3100 Feet above SL (Approx)

Base Village: Peth

Difficulty Rating: Easy

Kothaligad is a small fort (3100 ft) is situated to the east of karjat near Karjat-Murbad Road in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is one of the famous treks in the Karjat area, because of its small height and easy climbing. It is also known as the Fort of Peth because of its vicinity to Peth village at its base.

There is a small temple and large cave at the base and a chimney like tunnel  to the top of the fort. This pinnacle is carved from inside forming a staircase reaching the top.

There is a tank of water at some distance from the cave and another one at the top of the fort. This tunnel is the high point of the trek, with its funnel like structure and steps along the inside in a steep ascent to the very top.

The itinerary for the Trek is as given below:

Meeting point: Karjat Station.

(Note-We will be starting with the 5:40 Karjat local from CST. Trekkers may catch the same local from the station of their convenience and meet us in the train directly.)

Journey:

Morning Breakfast at Karjat.

Travel by Private vehicle  till the base village(Ambivali)

Start our trek by 10:00 am.

Reach the Pethwadi by 11:00am

We will spend some time on platue

Start ascending towards top.

Reach the top in next 1 hr.

Afternoon lunch.

Fort exploration.

Start our descend by 2:00 pm

Reach base by 4:00 pm.

Take private vehicle till Karjat.

Evening refreshment.

Reaching Mumbai by 7.00pm tentatively.

Matheran is most splendid hill station in Maharashtra; it covers an area of 8 square kilometers in Sahyadris. This lovely spot was discovered by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the then district collector of Thane district in May 1850. The Kaas Plateau is situated at the Sahyadri hills near Satara. This plateau is famous for its unique biosphere, high hill plateaus and grasslands.

According to Forest Department’s Board at Kas Plateau, there are more than 150 or more types of flowers, shrubs and grasses found here.

Thoseghar waterfalls is a scenic spot located 20 km from Satara city, at the edge of the Konkan region. There are a series of waterfalls, some of them 15 to 20 meters and one of 500 meters in height. There is a newly constructed Platform to stand and take a good view of the waterfall.

Schedule:

Day 1: Pick up from Jawai Bandh Station at 12:00 in the afternoon. Head towards the royal “Castle Bera” (www.castlebera.com) which still caters the Rajput ethics of hospitality to its best. Check in at Castle bera and get ready for a grand Rajasthani lunch in Maharaja’s style. Post Lunch rest a bit, get your gears loaded and wait till the clock indicates “TIME” of our royal predator. By around 4.30 pm headwith our expert for our first leopard safari with brilliant local trackers who know well how locate the leopard even in darkest night !! Every safari will be for aprox. 3 to 4 hours and chances of spotting this otherwise rare to see cat are extremely good.

Post safari have a grand dinner with team and discussion about today’s sightings and photography with our expert.

Lights off for the day. (If possible and safe, we shall conduct night trail to track nocturnal wildlife around the resort)

Day-2: After a cup of hot tea / coffee, leave on the hunt of leopards at 5.30 am. Track and shoot leopards, this time in lovely morning lights. We will be carrying packed breakfast or return to the resort for breakfast and proceed to the Lion’s Head Rock area for photographing Crocodiles & water birds.  Post lunch explore the village culture, an ethnic rustic Rajasthani village. Evening 4.30 pm head for Third leopard safari. Please note this time you need not miss the opportunity to click the best pics after some good sessions by expert on photography. Dinner, group discussion and lights off.

Day-3 : Early morning we will leave for jungle by 5:30 am, keeping the fingers crossed for this last leopard safari at Bera. Explore, Enjoy and Shoot to the fullest !! While returning, capture the winged beauties on the nearby Jawai Bandh, which is a huge Dam housing massive Crocodiles, almost 12- 15ft long. If we are lucky enough, we can expect some migratory birds as well here. On returning to the resort, have lunch and a quick feedback session about the trip and your best moments during the trip. Post lunch proceed for Jawai bandh station around 3.30 pm. Trip ends with rocking memories and dashing clicks of the spotted beast !!

Matheran is a very famous hill station and a popular weekend gets a way for the Mumbaiites. There are many different hiking routes to reach the top. The most common is one by the motorable road from Neral, which can get very monotonous. Some other routes are via Peb Fort, via one tree hill...
Sunset point is one of the most famous points of matheran. Even though a name of sunset point it gives a most scenic view of vertical series of waterfalls at morning time in rainy season.

Garbett point route is relatively lesser known. It takes us through some breathtaking scenery, green farmlands, a lake, a plateau. The view from the plateau is magnificent!

Waterfall Rappelling also technically known as canyoning and canyoneering are more often associated with technical descents those that require rappels (abseils) and rope work, down-climbing. An waterfall rappelling adventure sport is where you get down from a cliff/patch amidst the gushing waterfall.

The Kaas Plateau is situated at the Sahyadri hills near Satara. This plateau is famous for its unique biosphere, high hill plateaus and grasslands.

According to Forest Department’s Board at Kas Plateau, there are more than 150 or more types of flowers, shrubs and grasses found here.

Thoseghar waterfalls is a scenic spot located 20 km from Satara city, at the edge of the Konkan region. There are a series of waterfalls, some of them 15 to 20 meters and one of 500 meters in height. There is a newly constructed Platform to stand and take a good view of the waterfall.

Indian Journeys Presenst The Chadar Experience

Get ready for the mother of all experiences - The Chadar Trek - Once in a lifetime experience , a journey that will redefine you , one that will make you happy and sad , euphoric and humble , a journey that will leave a lasting imperssion on my mind ....... and who better to go with than Indian Journeys

After the successful trek of Beas Kund last summer , we plan this foray into Ladakh ..... to give you a background info , Ladakh in winter is just magnificiently beautiful , everywhere your eye turns you will be greeted by natures masterstrokes, and the ever hospitable ladakhis will make your experience that much more enriching

Our Plan is fairly simple , and one that has a huge overdose of fun , frolic , adventure , adrenaline rush all rolled into one, to make this a roller coaster experience for anyone who wishes to join .....however be warned only fit trekkers can withstand the challenges thrown by the Chadar

Here' s a brief outlook of our program , do mail / call us more a detailed program

09th Feb : Arrival into Leh . Transfer to the hotel , get introduced to your fellow trek mates and tent buddies. Drink Tea / water . Rest . Drink Tea / Water Rest..Basically plenty of rest to help you acclimatize. LAter in the evening we will take a walk to Shanti Stupa and enjoy a wonderful winter sunset . O/n at Leh.

10th Feb : Today we pick up our luggage, rations , equipment etc etc and drive to Chilling ( real name of the place and not a reference to the word chill / chilling etc ) . From here we trek to Tilat Sumdo , and as we take our first steps on the Chadar we will realise the magnamintiy of nature and will anticipate more such days to come. O/n in Camp.

11th Feb : Tilat Sumdo to Shingri Koma... the walk on the ever changing Chadar continues and we continue to be dazzled by the beauty all around us. O/n at Camp.

12th Feb : Shingri Koma to Tibb ....another fantastic day on the Chadar.

13th Feb : Tibb to Nyerak ...the most awaited day on the Chadar , the natural wonder of a frozen waterfall encapsulated through time , present a most awe inspiring sight , this is the culmination point of the chadar. O/n at Camps.

14th Feb : Technically we retrace our steps in the direction we came from ,but the nature of Chadar is such that it can seem like an entirely new walk with mesmerizingly different view.O/n at Camp at Tibb .

15th Feb : Tibb to Shingri Koma

16th Feb : Shingri Koma to Tilat Sumdo and Back at Leh

17th Feb : Rest / Buffer Day at Leh .

18th Feb : Departure from Leh

Cancellation requests are not taken over phone. However you can phone to check whether your cancellation has been processed. The cancellation charges are as under:Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trek -- full refund.Cancellation between 30 days and 20 days to the start of the trek -- 50% refund. Cancellation less than 20 days to the start of the trek -- no refund.

Drop out during trek: If for some reason a participant has to drop out from the trek on any day then IndianJourneys will make arrangements for his/her return to the nearest road head. A staff will accompany the participant to the nearest road head.transportation and stay cost at any location has to be borne by the participant.

Backpack carrying: Indianjourneys expects all trekkers to carry their own backpacks with personal belongings. All common gear will be carried by the support team. If for some reason a trekker is unable to carry his or her backpack\, he/she can offload the same by paying an additional charge of Rs 300 per backpack per day.
