Meeting point: Swami Narayan Temple, Dadar (E) at 12:00 Noon on Saturday 18^th April, 2015.

Travel by private vehicle till the base.

Pick up point near Nitin Company Junction, Thane, at 01:00 PM

Travel towards Bhandardara. Tea Enroute

Campsite and Tent Pitching & Sunset

Evening Refreshments and start for our Astronomy and Star Photography Session.

Dinner in between.
Campfire.
Rest in Tents

Day 2, 19^th April, Sunday

Wake up call at 07:00 am.

Breakfast at 08:00 am. Have fun lakeside and some group activities.

Without any training or experience you can enjoy the experience of flying like a pro for 15 minutes and enjoy the breathtaking sites. Let the pilot do the work while you enjoy the ride, savoring the amazing experience of soaring over beautiful hills and fields like an eagle high up in the sky.

1. Paragliding is totally weather dependent adventure sports. We cannot guaranty you the glides. For the same reason you are requested to keep a whole day free as you can take off at any point of time depending upon the wind conditions.

2. Refund Policy - In the worst case, if the event is cancelled on the same day due to inappropriate wind conditions, a refund of 3000 will be paid to each member. The refund will be made within 7 working days post event date.

3. Caution: Tandems can be enjoyed by any person from the age 7 onward.
As with other adventure activities, the flight may not be suitable for persons suffering from high BP, heart ailments and back problems. If in doubt, it is always advisable to check with your doctor.

Bringing you the new routes & destinations, we at TMI riders, invite you to Car & Bike Ride to Amba Ghat, Maharashtra on 3-4-5^th April 2015.

Amba is situated on the Western Ghats at the height of 3100 feet on Kolhapur - Ratnagiri national highway (NH-204) and this is the highest spot in Kolhapur district. Amba is actually a reserve forest area which falls in the buffer zone of the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve and Dajipur Bison Sanctuary.

Today, Amba Ghat is a a beautiful hill Station in Maharashtra, unlike other hill stations it has limited tourist traffic and was recently awarded the world heritage status. Amba's serene and natural surroundings make it a complete de-stress zone and one can spend hours staring at the silent valleys below.

Amba ghat is blessed with a rich variety of flora and fauna and being amidst of the Dajipur Bison sanctuary, it is a bird watcher's paradise offering a wide variety of wildlife. Similarly, there is a large variety of plants and trees and one will find the rare Tamhan flower tree here, which has been declared the state flower of Maharashtra. To add to the tourist's delight they will get great pleasure in plucking and eating fruits like Java plums (jamun/jambhul) or Rose-apples which are found here in abundance.

Route: Kalamboli – Pen – Chiplun – Sangmeshwar – Marleshwar – Amba Ghat – Panhala – Karad – Pune - Kalamboli

Total Distance: 1100 kms approx.

Day 1 : Ride starts at 6.00 am from Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai

- Reach Vadkhal Naka at 8.00 am

- Breakfast

- Reach Chiplun by 1pm..

- Lunch

- Reach Marleshwar at 4 pm

- Night Halt at Resort on Amba ghat top

Day 2 : - Breakfast at 7.00 am

- Local Site seeing e.g. Vishalgad, Waagzhara, Pawankhind, Manoli Backwaters etc

- Post lunch Jungle Safari

- Evening walk through forest area

About the Tour :

Bhigwan is a small dusty town on the border of Pune and Solapur district in Central Maharashtra, in India. Bhigwan is located on the Pune-Solapur Highway. South of Bhigwan town, exists a widespread backwater formed due to a man made dam built on the Bhima river. The dam is called as Ujni dam. The backwaters is spread over a wide region and is mainly a shallow waste water reserve. There are two areas where one can see the migratory water birds. 1) Diksal-Parewadi area and 2) Dalaj – Kumbharwadi area. The semi-waste water in this Ujni dam backwater area has built very good wetland based ecosystem and helped agriculture also. The rainfall in Pune region decides the water level in Ujani dam. March is the best season to visit Bhigwan as by that time most of the migratory birds arrive and settle down.

One can expect various types of Ducks, Herons, Egrets, Raptors and Waders along with flocks of hundreds of flamingos. The huge quantity of birds at Bhigwan increases the chance of sighting almost all the prime bird species there and also creates great photographic opportunities for wildlife photographers. The best part of these outings is that we are also including the famous Mayureshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in our itinerary. Its a small patch of forest at Supa village, also known as Supa Grasslands and is a great place to observe and photograph the Indian Gazelles.

Day 0 :
Overnight journey to Bhigwan. Bus starts from Dadar at 11:00 pm.

Day 1 :Early morning reach Bhigwan. Freshen up & have breakfast. Start exploring the location by boat. We will be exploring major part of Diksal by private boat in order to cover maximum species and also to reach as close to birds as possible. Have lunch and post lunch we will be exploring Mayureshwar Wildlife sanctuary (Depending upon sighting at Bhigwan). It’s a great place for sighting Chinkara (Indian Gazelle), Indian Fox and Raptors. Leave back for Mumbai by 4 pm. Reach Mumbai by 10 pm.

Beas Kund trek is one of the most popular and beautiful trek in Kullu Valley. Beas Kund is a holy lake where Rishi Vyas took his daily bath. River Beas originates from here. Solang Nalla base camp is 13 km from Manali and 1 hour drive, a popular place for tourists for ski slopes, para gliding etc. Dhundhi camp gives first glimpse of Mt. Hanuman Tibba and Seven Sisters. Beas Kund area might be full of snow at the time of this trek. This is enjoyable and easy going trek for any age group.

Manali :

At an altitude of 2,050 m (6,726 ft) in the Beas River Valley is a hill station nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley. It is located about 270 km (168 mi) north of the state capital, Shimla. Manali lies in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh state of India. It has become a tourist spot in recent years.
Manali with a population of approx. 30,000 is administratively a part of the Kullu district. The small town is the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and from there over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin.

Talaopali

Talao Pali (Masunda Lake, Marathi : मासुंदा तलाव) is a lake located in Thane in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The lake is surrounded by roads on all sides including Shivaji path(including STATIS flyover), Uthalsar road and Talao pali road. The lake is located about 600 m west of Thane creek and a kilometer north of Thane railway station. This is one of the recreational areas for people who live in Thane which offers boating and water scooter facilities.

It’s tough to imagine the beauty & grace of Mangrove Forest of Mumbai

Metropolitan City. The Mangrove of Bhandup Pumping Station is a home to many migratory & local bird species and they are often present in large numbers. The mangrove habitats offer rich feeding grounds for many of the large and more spectacular species as well as a multitude of small birds.

Both aquatic as well as tree dwelling birds are commonly found in mangroves and associated areas About 177 species of resident and migratory birds are found in the mangrove forests. The most common among these are Kingfishers, herons, storks, sea eagles, kites, sand pipers, Curlews, terens, ducks etc. Flamingoes flock the exposed mud flats, during the low tides. They use mangrove environs as breeding and feeding grounds.

It’s an amazing chance to see Beautiful Terns, Flock of Storks and Patterned Sandpipers.

Dudhsagar is one of the world's most exquisite falls. It lies high up in the Mandovi River's watershed and so are so spectacular during the monsoon season when the falls are transformed into one of the most powerful falls in India.

Dudhsagar Falls is listed as India's fifth tallest waterfall and is 227th in the world at 310 m. The water plummets hundreds of meters (over a thousand feet) in large volumes during the rainy monsoon season, forming one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in Goa.

There is also a legend associated with this waterfall. It is believed that a beautiful princess lived in the forest (near present day Dudhsagar Falls) in a palace. She loved and enjoyed bathing in a lake nearby and used to drink "sweetened milk" from her "golden jug" after finishing with her bath. One day while enjoying her jug of milk she found herself being watched by a prince, who was standing amongst the trees. Red with embarrassment at her inadequate bathing attire, she poured the jug of milk in front of him to form an improvised curtain to hide her body while the maids rushed to cover her with her dress. It is said that it is that sweetened milk that cascades down the mountain slope as Dudhsagar Falls to this day as a tribute to the virtue and modesty of the princess.

This is equally scenic but less popular route. One has to get down at Kuhlem (Collem) railway station and walk towards the falls which is about 11 km away. It normally takes 2–3 hours to reach. The famous photograph of Trains passing through before the waterfalls can be seen in this route and also the complete stretch of the falls will be visible while you hike towards the waterfalls.

Dear Mates, We at Trek Mates India invites you all for a Night Trek to Siddhagad on 12^th April’15. (Leaving on 11th Night)

Little Info About The Event:

Siddhagad:

Type: Hill Fort

Height: 3232 Feet above MSL (Approx)

Grade: Medium (4-5 hrs trek)

Base Village: Uchale / Narivali

Here we can see few remnants of the fort that was battled over between British and Maratha army, a Lord Shiva Temple, few broken cannons, few water cisterns etc.

From top of Siddhagad, one can see Karnala, Manikgad, Kothaligad, Bhimashankar, Gorakhgad & Machindragad.

This place is also known in Indian Freedom movement as two freedom fighters (Bhai Kotwal & Hiraji Patil) were shot dead at this place by British on 2nd Jan 1943.

The tentative itinerary for the Trek is as given below:

Day 1:

Meeting Point: Kalyan Station, Platform no 1, at 10.00 pm sharp (the late comers won’t be entertained, as we will be Starting by the 10.30 pm Public ST bus) on 11^th Saturday Night.
Bus journey till murbad, followed by another bus till Uchale Village.

Day2:

Reach Uchale @ 01:30am, Start our Trek @ 02:00am

Reach Siddhgad Machi @ 05:00am, Rest for 2hrs.

Breakfast @ 7:00am.

Start Siddhagad Balekilla Ascend @ 08:30am

Reach Siddhagad Top @ 10:30am, Explore The Fort.

Reach Siddhagad Machi @ 12:30am

Lunch at Siddhagad Machi.
Trek Back till Base.

Start Return Journey towards Kalyan

Reach Kalyan @ 06:30pm

The cost for the trek is Rs 800/- per head Inclusions:

Transportation From Kalyan to Kalyan, Breakfast and Lunch

Torch, Candles, Glucose Powder
Bedding with extra Papers, Extra Clothes Camera, Cap, etc. (Optional)
