Sandhan valley is one of the greatest canyons in the Sahyadri mountain ranges. It is a very good combination of a canyon and a valley. Located in the Nagar district, near the famous fort Ratangad, Sandhan valley is undoubtedly The Valley of Suspense. Day 0:
Overnight journey towards village Samrad by  Kasara Local 11:20 pm Slow from CSTM.

Day 1 :
Proceed to Samrad By Private Jeep. Early morning arrival at Samrad, fresh up and breakfast. By 7:00 am Proceed to Descend Sandhan valley. Experience the thrill as well as natural light & sound show in the valley. Have Lunch And Start Descending the Further Part. Reaching the Stay point by Evening. Self Cooking Dinner. Overnight Stay in Open At the Same Point..


Day 2 :
After breakfast proceed towards Dehne. Reaching Dehne by Lunch Time ( approx by 2:30 pm). After Lunch We will proceed towards Kasara by Public Transport. From Kasara Back to Mumbai by Train

About:

This is one of the difficult trek in Sahyadris and famous for its Rock patch. So get ready to enjoy one more thrilling experience with VRangers. Here we will be having approx 40ft rappelling while descending from cave as difficult getting down from same route.

Meeting Point: Kamshet Station at 8.30am

Train Details: - Indrayani Express

CST - 5.35 am

Dadar – 5.50 am

Thane – 6.10 am

Kalyan – 6.35 am

Lonavla – 8.00 am

Will Catch the Pune Shuttle at 8.10 am & get down at Kamsheth Station.

Trek Schedule:

The journey starts with the Indrayani Express. People interested should catch this train from respective stations with ticket till lonavala station. (Plz get your respected stations at least half an hour earlier, as there might be a long queue for the tickets). From lonavala we’ll catch local train till kamshet. From Kamshet we will hire a jeep/tempo-pickup or travel by bus till Jambivali. We’ll visit Bahiri caves by covering the tough rock patch. While descending we’ll go to Vadhap then we’ll hire a jeep or rickshaw from Vadhap till Karjat.

08.00am: Get down at Lonavla station.

08.10am: Will catch the shuttle / local train for Kamsheth so please coordinate with leads for the same otherwise you will miss the train.

08.30am: At Kamshet station.

08.55am: Move towards Kamsheth ST stand.

10.00am: With B/F will reach to Jambhivali village.

10.15am: With intro will move towards Bahiri caves.

12.10 Pm: Descend in the thrilling valley.

12.45 Pm: Will start 90 degree climb towards cave with some thrilling scenes.

01.35 Pm: Reach to caves and will have Lunch here.

02.35 Pm: Will rappel down patch.

06.35 Pm: Back to valley Ascend  & move towards Vadap village.

07.40 Pm: Will back to karjat tentatively.

Day 0: 
And the dream event is just 1 day away from you. Pack your bags and depart from Mumbai for this Adventurous trip by Haridwar AC Super Express. It departs from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 07:55 am on a day before the trip starts . Reaches Haridwar on next day at 01:10 pm. Chilling time in train. Know each other, make friends and have fun in train

Day 1 :
And finally we are at Haridwar station on Day 1. The place we all know because of  River Ganga, a divine place to be at. Transfer to Campsite by Private Bus. Experience Volleyball, River Trekking, bonfire and fun games with new friends. Enjoy the nature at beautiful campsite.

Day 2 :
Yes the day we all waited for, the day where your heartbeat is already high right from the morning wake-up call, the day when you will be challenging yourself, the dream adventure activity Bungee Jumping at Rishikesh. Forget all your stress and worries and just JUMP!!!!!!! No its not a dream…yes you are hanging in air. Yes you have done it.

After this you can also enjoy other adventure activities at that place at your own cost. Evening back to Campsite. If time permits, experience other adventure sports like Paintball/Rappelling/Rock climbing. Post dinner experience the night jungle trail.


Day 3 :
One more day of adventure Rafting of 26 kms at Rishikesh one of the best rafting in India. Also, enjoy the Cliff Jumping in the Water of Ganges. Post adventure activities, we go for Rishikesh Exploration- Laksman Jhoola, Ram Jhoola. Lunch at the very famous Chotiwala Restaurant. Back to Resort.
Evening  Rewards and Certification for participants. Enjoy Barbeque in the riverside campsite, have dinner and freak out on the tunes of the DJ and go to rest.

Day 4:
Check out from the resort and travel towards Haridwar Station. Leave back for Mumbai by Kochivelly Express which departs from Haridwar at 07:45 am.

Hello Wanderers,
We are glad to invite you for Trek to Ratangad on 28th march 2015.



General Information:
The fort is about 2000 years old.Ratangad has a natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top which is called ‘Nedhe’ or ‘Eye of the Needle’.Ratangad was captured by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and was one of his favorites. The base village Ratanwadi has an Amruteshwar temple which is famous for its carvings. The fort is origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The bhandrdara dam(arthur dam) is built on this river. The main attraction at Ratanwadi is the Amruteshwar Temple dating back to the Hemadpant Era – roughly from the eighth century.

Sights to visit:

Velas is the birth place of Nana Phadnis, one of the great prominent personalities in Maratha history. Due to the sea-shore Velas is an exciting place and it is situated near Bankot Bay. There is an old temple of Shri Bhairi- Rameshwar and in this temple all twelve months water is made available taking the benefit of favorable geographical conditions. A statue of Nana Phadnis is present outside his house. In Velas Mahalakshmi temple and Nana Phadnis house are the places to visit. Gokul-ashtami Festival is one of the important festivals in Velas.

Himmat Gadh, a fort situated at Bankot, also goes by the name of Bavankot Quila and has existed well before the time of independence. The story behind the name ‘Bavankot Quila’ is that long back, the tax collected from the farmers on this land equalled the sum of “bavan kot” or 52crores!

The fort also serves as a memorial for Queen Victoria, with it also being known by the name of Fort Victoria. Rumor has it, that an underground passage also exists, but it’s very likely that it has been shut now. A well, worn dry over time, can also be found there.

Harihareshwar:

Dakshin Kashi is famous pilgrim place with ancient Shiv Temple and Kalbhairav Temple situated on the Dakshin Kashi. It also has a beautiful beach which is rocky on one side and a clean sand beach on the other side.

About the Tour :

We present a completely new photography experience, we have for you, a whole new way for expand your photographic horizons and come and shoot something attempted rarely by a large majority of Photographers. The trail is mainly focusing on these four techniques :

Star Trail Photography : In Star Trail Photography, Photographers use the motion of the Earth to create a dynamic picture of the unseen motion of the world through Space, The final result is often a mesmerizing reminder of the unseen and almost unfelt ride that the Earth takes through the Cosmos.

Low Light Photography : In ideal conditions, even while shooting wildlife, the camera has a lot of light to play with, what will you do when the main source of the Light, the Sun is not visible any more? With low light photography, a new world awakens and calls out to you to capture it. Find out if you are a night shooter.

Light Paintings : Here is where we get to play with light in a way, that is simply not possible in Daytime, truly, the light and hands take the shape of clay and you could shape it anyway you like. A fun group activity which teaches you how other people can “make” subjects out of light.

Post processing : Star Trail and Night shots don’t go through the same processing that day shots go through, as soon as we are done for the night we will discuss some common ways to deal with the issues we face in low light photography and also how to process star trails.

About the Tour: 

There are some beautiful treks in Maharashtra  in different sectors but they are unexplored or i can say  less explored because forts which I am talking about they are far from Mumbai or not possible to explore in one day . Kille hadsar , kille Nimgiri  and chavand these are  three offbeat forts near junnar come into this .

Naneghat is “Satvahan” Kalin trading route to connect  konkan with Ghatmatha and for security purpose this trade route area is surrounded by forts like Shivneri , hadsar  Nimgiri , chavand . We are going to visit 2 forts in 2 days . Added flavour to this trek we are going to camping at the Base of the Hadsar fort.

Day 1 :Meet at Kalyan station 07:00 am . Leaving from Kalyan by jeep. Travel to beautiful Malshej ghat. En-route  breakfast and visit  Chavand fort. Reach at the top of the fort through rock cut steps. Explore the fort and some water cisterns. Enjoy photography, have some snacks and start descending reach at  Chavandvadi village. Have lunch and move towards Hadsar village (10kms away). Reach at base, have some tea and snacks and visit Manik doha Dam . Overnight at Hadsar

Day 2 :Today morning will visit Hadsar Fort. Post breakfast, start ascending (02 hours). Reach at the top. There is shiva temple with  “Shivling” built in the rock. Start descending, reach at base en-route, lunch and drop at Kalyan.

Bhigwan

Bhigwan is a small town around 100 kms away from Pune and is also referred to as the “Bharatpur of Maharashtra”, as it becomes a hotbed of migratory birds during the winter. Bhigwan is at one end of the huge Yashwant Sagar reservoir, forming the backwaters of the Ujain dam. One of the main attractions during the migratory season is the arrival of the pink greater flamingos. During the months of early jan – late feb, this place is thronged by bird lovers from all over Maharashtra.

Details as below:

Vijaydurg or Victory Fort:

The oldest fort on Sindhudurg coast constructed in the regime of Raja Bhoj of shilahar dynasty in 1205 (construction period 1193-1205). The fort was earlier known as "Gheria" as it is situated in the village "Girye". Shivaji Maharaj won this fort from Adilshaha of Bijapur in 1653 and renamed it as “Vijay Durg” as the then Hindu solar ear’s name was “Vijay”. Vijay means Victory.

Sprawling over an area of 48 acres, Vijaydurg, fort of victory, was once seized by the British following a bloody battle. They renamed it Fort Augustus. A dilapidated board at the entrance of the fort relates its history. One of the best views of the fort is from the jetty. The fort stretches out into the sea and a walk inside its precincts is worthwhile. Shivaji added triple rows of huge walls, umpteen towers and spacious inner buildings to it and strengthened it in the 17th century.
Kunkeshwar Temple

 

 

Kunkeshwar Temple, an ancient Shiva Temple is located in Kunkeshwar village, 14 Kms from Devgad town. A pristine beach with a very long stretch of seashore and white sand adds to the beauty of temple surroundings. This beautiful temple near beach has alluring architecture with reminiscent of South Indian style of temple architecture. Yadav Kings built this temple in 1100 A. D. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who rejuvenated this temple many times was a frequent visitor to this temple. This temple is also famous as Kashi of South Konkan. 

Sindhudurga - Padmagad forts:

 Huge sea rocks of Malvan has easefully shouldered the responsibility of two Forts Sindhudurg & Padmagad on their broad chest. The name of the fort is given to the Sindhudurg district. Tourist from all over the world visit through out the year to see this Maratha glory.The fort was built with the help of huge rocks on the Kurte Island which amazes people & one appreciates imaginative power of Shivaji. In 1664 shivaji erected this fort on 44 acers of land. In Sindhudurg Fort there is 'Shri Shivarajeshwar temple' of King Shivaji. Also there are temples of Hanuman, Jarimari mandir and Goddess 'Bhavani Temple'. Impressions of shivaji's fingers prints found to be preserved here on one of the wall . Also lies, inside the fort worth seeing temples of Bhavanimata, Shambhu Mahadev, Jirimiri & Mahapurush. All are in good conditions.

Tarkarli Beach
Tarkarli is a narrow stretch of beach with pristine waters, located at the convergence of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea. It is 546 k.m. away from Mumbai, 6 kms. south of Malvan, on the west coast of India. This place has gained prominence because of its transparently clear seas, where on a fairly sunny day, one can see the sea- bed up to a depth of 20 feet. This beach can be rightly called as ‘Queen Beach’ of Sindhudurg. 

Snorkeling: is the practice of swimming on or through a body of water while equipped with a diving mask, a shaped tube called a snorkel, and usually swim-fins.  Use of this equipment allows the snorkeler to observe underwater attractions for extended periods of time with relatively little effort.Snorkeling is a popular recreational activity. The primary appeal is the opportunity to observe underwater life in a natural setting without the complicated equipment

Difficulty Rating: Tough

Trek to Dhak Bahiri caves is famous for its rock patches and is considered as one of the toughest treks of Maharashtra. The patches becomes tougher to negotiate in Monsoon but we will try to make it as easy as possible, with appropriate use of ropes, securing safety of each and every participant over the patch.

About Velas:
Velas is a small fishing village on the western coast of Maharashtra. About 220km away from Mumbai, a little over a hundred houses on the coast of the Arabian sea. It is that time of the year again- when a tiny grey head pokes out of the golden sand and takes a breath of the fresh salty air of the Arabian Sea. It is a culmination of a lengthy process, which started when, under the cover of darkness, it’s mother emerged out from the rolling waves to lay her heap of 100-120 eggs on the sandy beach. Oblivious to the world that awaits it outside it’s sandy cocoon, the tiny hatchling is soon followed by a hundred others, all crawling their way towards the brightest lights of the horizon- in this case, the sea. TreksandTrails, invites you to this journey from the nest to the sea which draws oohs and aahs from tourists- each of whom is gathered on the shore to witness this miracle of Nature. The location is Velas, a remote village in Mandangad taluka in Ratnagiri district.


TreksandTrails, appreciates the great efforts been undertaken by local NGO-Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra, as they have borne fruit since 2002, each year all the nests on the western coast at Velas, Murud, Harnai, Dapoli and other sites are carefully protected and conserved to ensure both natural and human threats are reduced. All the eggs laid on the beach are collected and placed in a common hatchery which is barricaded from all sides and is guarded throughout the day. Each morning at 0700 and evening at 1730-1800 the baskets covering the lid are open to check if any turtles have hatched, if they have they are counted and carefully laid in another basket and taken closer to the sea. They are then gently placed on the sand and they slowly make their way to the water. Their first baby steps are not only endearing to watch but also important if it is a female, as she records in her memory the site of her birth only to return here after 15 years to lay her eggs.

Remember
• It is a conservation site visit and not a picnic.
• No plastic, don't litter or shout when the turtles are released.
• Wear sensible clothes, although it is a beach the locals are conservative and might take offence at beach attire suitable elsewhere.
• The route to the beach passes through a dirt track built over the mangroves, in the evenings it gets pitch dark and there are no street lights. Do carry a torch with you for such emergencies.
• Photography should be WITHOUT FLASH only.
• Turtle Hatchling is a Natural phenomenon and not guaranteed. Though efforts are made to increase our chances through this programme.

1. Haversack to keep hands free. Please carry a personal photo ID proof.

3. A good torch and extra batteries.
4. Camera (Optional), Personal medicines.
5. Please avoid wearing Gold and other costly jewellery (at own risk).
6. Electoral or Enerzyl Powder or Glucon D powder and some ready to eat snacks & biscuits.
7. Good trekking shoes, beach wear footwear, floaters, extra pair of clothes.

Hatchling sighting is not guaranteed. However care is taken maximize our chances.
Maximum batch size is 25 travellers on first come first basis.
Travel by private non A/C vehicle. Pick up from centralized locations only.
