The fort can be seen from the road head with three connecting forts on its top. To the left is Mahuli-Chanderi/Bhandargad. The central one is Mahuli and the left most is Chota Mahuli. Between MAhuli and Bhandargad are the famous peaks of Navra Navri and Karavli. It's an impressive massif. The base village for Mahuli fort is Mahuli. The fort is 3km away in the Northwest (right). One has to climb up the gully on the east face, reaching the saddle at 600 mts. Reach a large plateau with excellent views of Tansa Lake. There is no water available on the way up . There is only one water tank at the centre in the centre of the fort. As for the history, this fort was also built by the Moghuls. However, it is a ruins now . The fort was under Nijamashahi dynasty. Shivaji conquered the ort from the Moghuls. In the treaty of Purandar, Marathas lost this fort again. Shivaji Maharaj tried t conquer it again but failed.
