The bountiful rains, good greenery and waterfalls around. Garbett Plateau is located in the south – west direction of Matheran, offering a 360 degree view of one of our all time favourite hill stations. Matheran is Famous & splendid hill station in Maharashtra, it covers an area of 8 square kilometers in Sahyadris. This Fantastic spot was discovered in 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the collector of Thane district. Garbett point is located on South-west side of Matheran with grand view of the plateau.Climate here is very cool with some breath taking views. Dear Friends we invite you all for Republic Day trek to Kalsubai fort highest peak of Maharashtra on 26th Jan 16 Kalsubai Peak is the highest peak (1646 meters) of the Sahyadris on the border of Igatpuri Taluka, Nashik district and Akole Taluka, of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. 'Kalsubai' temple is located at the top most peak of Sahyadri mountain range of Maharastra. The main route starts from the village of Bari which is about six km from Bhandardara. The main route to the temple is at small climbing slope . It usually takes three hours to reach the top from Bari. There small huts in this area who could be very helpful in case of any emergency. There are three iron ladders along this route. There is a well near the last iron ladder as one approaches the top but the water is not potable during the summer. The rest of the route is without water, so it is best to fill water bottles in Bari. It is an easy hike, but parts of it are quite steep. Reptiles like lizards and snakes could be spotted sun-bathing during winter mornings near the ladders. The vastly spread out backwaters of Bhandardara attracts ones attention from the top. To the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej, Harihargad, Brahmagiri, Anjaneri, Ghargad, Bahula, Tringalwadi, Kavnai can be seen. Peb Fort is situated on northeast side of Panvel on Mumbai-Pune road at a distance of 3-4 km on west side of Neral. This is the most beautiful one-day trek. The fort is also named as 'VikatGad'. We can clearly see the ridge connecting mountains of Matheran and Peb. When we stand here we feel that we are on the top of the world. Dear Friends we invite you all for Camping at Naneghat on 16 17 Jan 2016 We Will Travel by Vehicle till top (No Ascend Only Descend Naneghat).   Little info about the fort : Place: Naneghat Height: 2750 feet Base Village: Vaishakhare District: Thane Difficulty Level: Easy Endurance Level: Medium Region : Malshej Trek Leader: Nishant Sheth.   We will be going to Naneghat top by jeep Via Junnar, camping and stay in tents, Morning Explore surrounding places and Start Descend Reach Base village  12 o'clock reach Kalyan 2 o'clock. Naneghat (Nane = Coin, Ghat = pass) is a famous landmark near Malshej Ghat/Kalyan region due to its thumb shape.  This pass has historic importance as it was used around 200 BC as a trade route between the Konkan (Seaside) and Ghat (rest of maharashtra plateau).  Naneghat is about 50 KMs from kalyan on NH 222. A 3 hour trek takes you on top of the world.  Bor Ghat, Malshej Ghat and Naneghat were the foremost  road links for commuting coast to the plateau.   From here one can enjoy the vast plateau.  The Satvaahans had made Naneghat their main route to Junnar. During their tenure the most important way of  commuting was Naneghat, which linked Kalyan & Sopara to Paithan. Today one has to reach Junnar by going all the way through Malshej, which is a big round.  But Naneghat had much reduced distance and was a definitely shorter route. However, as time proceeded, it was destroyed by alien rulers and then paid no  attention. The first thing we can see after reaching Naneghat is the spacious cave of Naneghat. The ancient carvings, which are seen on the walls of the  cave, remind us of the Satvaahan period. Here we find inscriptions in Brahmi script all over the cave. These indicate the magnificent era of the Satvaahans and their generosity. These inscriptions are gradually being destroyed and only a part of it is remaining. ONE DAY TREK  FORT PATTA (VISHRAMGAD) On 17 Jan 2016  Brief Introduction about PATTA Fort (VISHRAMGAD) : – Grade: Easy Type: Hill Fort Height : 4562 feet Region : Nashik Base village : Pattawaadi More about Patta Fort  :The range of Sahyadri ,starting from Igatpuri is also recognized as the range of Kalsubai. Towards the western side of this range we can find forts like Alang , Madan and the Kalsubai peak. Towards the eastern side of this range the forts like Aundh ,Bitangad , Aad and Patta are situated.The Maratha army, under the leadership of Moropant pingle had conquered this fort in the year 1671 from Moghuls.The top of this fort is actually a huge plateau. From Patta fort one can keep watch on this complete region.Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during raid on Jalna in year 1679 rested for some time near Sangamner and unfortunately the Maratha army was seized from all sides by Mughal army and Shivaji Maharaj was ill during that time. Bahirji Naik successfully rescued Shivaji Maharaj and took him to Patta fort. Shivaji Maharaj stayed on this fort for around 1.5 months to recover from illness, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has renamed this fort as Vishramgad. Patta fort earlier belonged to Mughals but in year 1671,Moropant Pingle was on a mission of capturing forts in Nasik and Baglan range and thus in year 1672,Moropant Pingle was succesful to capture this fort.
