We at Trek Mates India Invites all for a One Day Trek to Tringalwadi on Saturday, 15th August 2015.

Little info about the fort
Type: Hill Fort
Height: 3283 Feet above MSL (Approx)
Grade: Easy
Endurance: Medium

Base Village: Tringalwadi

The exact period of construction of this fort is not known, however, by virtue of ‘Jain caves’ near the foothills, one can roughly estimate the fort to be in existence since 10th century. Also there is no evidence regarding the period during which it was under control of Marathas, however, during the year 1688; Mughals took control over the fort by perfidy.

Tringalwadi Fort with Trek Mates India

On the Top from the devastated castle leads us further ahead to the secret doorway of the fort after taking a right turn from the same path, one has to climb down to reach this door. Further down step one can notice the door being carved within a single sheet of rock. On its right hand side one can see a statue of Lord Hanuman, about 6-7 feet high. A carved step on the mountain ahead leads to the top of the fort.
A beautiful Goddess Temple makes it picture perfect.

Hi Mates, we at Trek Mates India are glad to invite you for a One day Monsoon Trek to Chanderi via Vangani on 18th August 2015

Trek Details:
Type: Hill Fort
Height: 2330 Feet above MSL (Approx)
Grade: Medium
District: Raigad
Range:  Matheran
Base Village: Vangani

Chanderi is an ancient army fort situated near Vangani (Kalyan).

There are not much remnants on the top except few water tanks and shatters stones

The view from the top is really alluring; one can observe Karnala, Prabalgad, Irshalgad, Manikgad, Peb, Matheran, Nakhind, Navra navri, Tavli etc from the top.

There is no significant history attached to this fort. Near the caves on the fort are visible some remnants of fortification. This is the only sign to designate Chanderi as a fort. In May 1656, Shivaji Maharaj conquered all territory up to Kalyan-Bhiwandi-Rairi. This was when this fort came under the rule of the Marathas.

Lack of development, low water storage areas, absence of significant constructions, limited facilities for people to stay and extremely difficult approach road seem to suggest that rather than a fort, this was possibly a military base.

The tentative itinerary for the Trek is as given below:
Meeting Point Vangani Railway Station in Vangani East at 07:40 am
Breakfast
Travel till base village by Auto/Private vehicle
Trek till top in 3hrs
Lunch,
Descend till base village by 5 pm
Back to Vangani and then back to Mumbai by 9:30 pm tentatively.
