Dear Venturers,Inviting you for One day trek to Prabalgad fort on 8th August 2015. Prabalgad lies on the Prabal plateau between Matheran and Panvel and can be seen from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The Ulahas River runs to the east of the fort. The Gadhi River, and the Chanderi and Peb forts are to the west. To the south is the Patalganga River, and Manikgad and to the north is the Karnala fort. One day trekking to kondana caves in karjat on 9th augest 2015 (Sunday)Height: 60m above Sea Level (Approx) Grade : Easy (1 hour ascend)Base Village: Kondva Trek Leader : saheb singhAbout Kondana Caves :Kondana Caves situated in Karjat offers the ancient lifestyle of Buddhist followers. Ancient rock-cut caves, Kondana Caves are very famous Buddhist caves. These caves enclose sculptures, vihara, cahitya and stupa. Sculptures and stupas are specimens of the ancient period Buddhist architecture. There was a natural disaster in the form of an earth quake in early 1900 by which many stupas, front entrance and floor of the caves were damaged.These ancient caves attract lots of tourists and Buddhist devotees all through the year. There are some restrictions on these protected ancient caves. Smoking and the consumption of liquor and aromatic foods are prohibited nearby places of the caves. Dear Friends we invite you all for Monsoon Trek to Mount Kalsubai highest peak of Maharashtra on 9 aug 2015.Leaving 8 aug 2015 with MumbaiRangers Kalsubai Peak is the highest peak (1646 meters) of the Sahyadris on the border of Igatpuri Taluka, Nashik district and Akole Taluka, of Ahmednagar districtof Maharashtra. 'Kalsubai' temple is located at the top most peak of Sahyadri mountain range of Maharastra. The main route starts from the village of Bariwhich is about six km from Bhandardara. The main route to the temple is at small climbing slope . It usually takes three hours to reach the top from Bari.There small huts in this area who could be very helpful in case of any emergency. There are three iron ladders along this route. There is a well near thelast iron ladder as one approaches the top but the water is not potable during the summer. The rest of the route is without water, so it is best to fillwater bottles in Bari. It is an easy hike, but parts of it are quite steep. Reptiles like lizards and snakes could be spotted sun-bathing during wintermornings near the ladders. The vastly spread out backwaters of Bhandardara attracts ones attention from the top. To the north of the mountain range fortssuch as Ramsej, Harihargad, Brahmagiri, Anjaneri, Ghargad, Bahula, Tringalwadi, Kavnai can be seen. Dear Friends we invite you all for One day Monsoon trek to Gorakhgad with MumbaiRangers on 9 Aug 2015. Fort Gorakhgad is quite small in size. It had strategic importance during the reign of Shahaji Raje. However, no major battle is recorded to have takenplace here. It was used in Shivaji's era to patrol the nearby region and was used as a stopover station during the journey to Junnar via Naneghat.Though small in size,there is enough availability water and a lot of space for accommodation. Mudumalai - Bandipur Wildlife Camp. (14th to 18th Nov., 2015):  The Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary also a declared Tiger Reserve, lies on the northwestern side of the Nilgiri Hills (Blue Mountains), in Nilgiri District, about 150 km north-west of Coimbatore city in Kongu Nadu region of Tamil Nadu. It shares its boundaries with the states of Karnataka and Kerala. The sanctuary is divided into 5 ranges – Masinagudi, Thepakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi and Nellakota.The protected area is home to several endangered and vulnerable species including Indian elephant, Bengal Tiger, Gaur and Indian Leopard. There are at least 266 species of birds in the sanctuary, including critically endangered Indian White-rumped Vulture and Long-billed Vulture.The Western Ghats, Nilgiri Sub-Cluster (6,000 km2), including all of Mudumalai National Park, is under consideration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for selection as a World Heritage Site. Bandipur National Park, established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger, is a national park located in the state of Karnataka. It was once a private hunting reserve for the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Mysore. Bandipur is known for its wildlife and has many types of biomes, but dry deciduous forest is dominant. Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary also known as Pakshi Kashi of Karnataka is a Bird Sanctuary in the Mandya District. It is the largest bird sanctuary in the state, only 0.67 km². in area, which is about 40 acres and comprises six islets on the banks of the Kaveri river. Chandoli National Park. (6th to 9th Nov, 2015): Chandoli National Park is a 317.67 km2 National Park in Sangli District, established in May 2004. Earlier it was a Wildlife Sanctuary since 1985. The forest types seen here are a mix of Malabar Coast moist forests and North Western Ghats moist deciduous forests. Nearly 23 species of mammals, 122 species of birds, 20 species of amphibians and reptiles are known to be resident in the forests of Chandoli. Bengal Tigers, Indian leopards, Indian bison, leopard cats, sloth bears and Indian giant squirrels are quite conspicuous here. Many prey species of ungulates such as Barking deer, Sambar deer, Mouse deer and Blackbuck are present. A census carried out by the Forest Department showed a rise in the number of Tigers, Leopards, Gaur, Barking deer, Mouse deer, Sloth bears and Blackbuck.
