White. Endless stretch of white. Blinding if you look at it in the afternoon, moonlike if you see it at dusk. Stretching as far as the eyes can see. This is the Great Rann of Kutch. And this is where we are headed this December on a roadtrip across the white desert and surrounding areas.
Our journey will begin on the evening of the 17th of December aboard the Kutch Express 19131 that departs from Bandra Terminus at 1700 hours, to arrive next morning in Bhuj. Over the next four days we will explore the Great Rann of Kutch. From the fresh water lake of Narayan Sarovar to the ancient town of Lakphat to an extinct volcano at Dinodhar Hill and a centuries old monastery which has a fascinating story

From the Harappan site of Dholavira to crossing the Tropic of Cancer to reach Kalo Dungar - the highest point of Kutch also steeped in legends involving saint Dattatraya and the jackals that inhabit the hilly areas. The people of Kutch have preserved their art, culture and traditions over many centuries inspite of the harsh living conditions and we will explore these culturally rich villages on the roadtrip.
We will also spend sometime wandering about the bylanes of Bhuj and Mandvi as we explore the architectural grandeur of the Mahals that dot these towns. But as always, more than seeing, this trip would be about experiencing this unique part of the diverse country we call home. Local food, walks around neighbourhoods, bird watching, star gazing, watching glorious sunsets and many more unique experiences that we are working on right now!
We will take the return train on Sunday evening, 21st December and arrive in Bombay next morning just in time to get back to work.
Cost. Rs. 11,000 inclusive of
1. Two and Fro train tavel in SL class (if you'd like us to book you in 3AC or higher, let us know) One can even fly down into Bhuj on the 18th.
2. Twin Sharing Accomodation in Air conditioned rooms
