    What is Kaas ?-------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Kaas Plateau also known as the "Kaas Pathar" which is situated in the Western Ghat Sahyadri range, 22 kilometers from Satara city in Maharashtra state of India. The name Kaas originates from Kaasa tree. Leaves of this tree turn green to red as they mature.The area of plateau is approximately 1,000 hectare.The plateau is full of wild flowers during the months of August and September. Recently it has been declared as Biodiversity World Heritage Site by The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Kaas lake is surrounded by dense forests and lies between Sajjangad fort and the Kanher Dam. The place has more than 850 different species of flowers and other plants including Orchids, Karvy and carnivorous plants such as Drosera Indica. This falls under the Sahyadri Sub Cluster of Western Ghats which is now a UNESCO World heritageWhat's makes this a Special trip ?-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well Kaas itself is a Special place but it makes sense to understand the Ecology and how we can safeguard it.      Hello Vibers, We are glad to invite you for Thrilling River Rafting at  Kolad on Sunday ,28th September 2014 Short Info: River Rafting on Kundalika started a few years ago and now a year round activity (Only rafting facility in India to be operational all round the year). River Rafting at Kundalika river in Kolad, is about 4 hrs drive from Pune and Mumbai. White Water Rafting in Kundalika river, Kolad is controlled by the release of the Dam on the Kundalika River and offers Grade II and Grade III rapids (Higher the Grade, higher the level of difficulty).
