We @ शिखर वेध , have decided to UP the adrenaline dosage by organizing a Trek to Karnala Fort on Saturday 28 June 2014

Karnala fort is a hill fort in Raigad district about 13 km from Panvel. Currently it is a protected place lying within the Karnala Bird Sanctuary. It was a fort of strategic importance.
Redeemed with the power struggle of many rulers, Karnala Fort stands as a specimen of the 13th century constructions. The fort was sparingly used by theKarnala rulers including Angres, Mudhan and Peshwas until 1818, by which time British rulers have taken over the grand old fort under their control.
The Karnala Fort engulf a steep rock in the midst of greenish surroundings and has been a challenge to many adventurous trekkers all through the past and continue to be a great attraction among the fans of trekkers. The fort doorway is adorned with many carvings of elephants and tigers. One can see cute water reservoirs developed naturally in the rocks. The cool surroundings and the beautiful landscapes make this region a place for calm weekends.

Rendezvous: Meet at 07:15 AM (Sharp) at Panvel Railway Station on Saturday 28th June 2014.

2) Thane - Panvel Train timings as below
THane: 06:24 Hrs
Koparkhairane: 06:41 Hrs

Panvel: 07:17 Hrs
A walk of about 10 minutes will bring us to Panvel ST Depo
07:30 Hrs: Breakfast - Tea, Panvel
08:05 Hrs: Depart from Panvel bus depo to Karnala by ST / tumtum
08:45 Hrs: @ Karnala base

The cost of this trek would be Rs. 300/- per head only and would include:

VIMP Note: 1) At the forest entry - point, All plastic bottles will be Counted & have to deposit some amount for the same. In case, if any participant member forget his bottle in the sanctuary and couldn't show it at the gate, he has to Pay Rs 100/- fine for the same.
2) SMOKING & ALCOHOL Drinking is strictly Prohibited here
