About Kalsubai:
Kalsubai with the height of 1646m [5400Feets] is famous as one of the highest peaks in Maharashtra. Kalsubai lies in the Sahyadri mountain range. This being the highest peak, it commands a beautiful view. Since Kalsubai is extremely famous, enough effort has been made to make this trek easy. There are steel railings, chains and ladders at places where it is difficult to climb. There is a symbolic temple at the top. It is said, that in the ancient times, a lady named “Kalsu” came to nearby Indorey village to work. However, somebody forced her to clean utensils and clean up the residence by force. So she left the place and eventually died at this spot. So comes the name, Kalsubai. A small temple is built here, in her memory. It usually takes three hours to reach the top from Bari. Soon after leaving Bari, a small stream is crossed followed soon after by a Hanuman temple. The route from behind this temple takes the hiker straight to the summit. There are three iron ladders along this route. There is a well near the last iron ladder as one approaches the top. The rest of the route is without water, so it is best to fill water bottles in Bari. It is an easy hike, but parts of it are quite steep in places.

About Rappelling
It is the controlled descent down a rock face using a rope and harness. Rescue teams are also known for using this method as a way to access injured or stranded victims. Climbers use this technique when a cliff or slope is too steep and/or dangerous to descend without protection. Many climbers use this technique to protect established anchors from damage. Rope access technicians also use this as a method to access difficult-to-reach areas from above for various industrial applications like maintenance, construction, inspection and welding, cleaning of outer glass of a building.
About Waterfall rappelling
Waterfall rappelling is very similar to rappelling, the difference is water. And this one element will make all the difference. As the amount of water flowing down makes the foot rest all the more slippery and uneasy. As our clothes are wet and there is extra weight on us of the flowing water. We all need to be extra careful.

Safety is Important:
Waterfall rappelling requires an extra caution approach. Major reason being it’s conducted on a waterfall. With the water continuously gushing on us is the challenge. Rappelling can be dangerous, and presents risks, especially to unsupervised or inexperienced person. It is said about 25% of climbing deaths occur during rappelling, most commonly due to failing anchors. Hence is very important to listen to your instructors and be fully aware about methods of rappelling. Its very important to make sure while rappelling that the landing place and route is secured and no loose rocks. One needs to ensure that they descend gradually and nicely paced. Never hurry while rappelling.

On the west side, there is a long and narrow wall-like fortified spur called Vinchukata (Marathi for Scorpion's tail) because of shape.Lohagad has a long history with several dynasties occupying it at different periods of time: Satavahanas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Yadavas, Bahamanis, Nizamshahis, Mughals and Marathas. A brief history about Umberkhind war:
An Uzbek general, Kartalab Khan, was sent on a mission to attack and reduce Chatrapati Shivaray’s forts in the Kokan in Feb,1661. He left Pune with 20,000 troops. This time the Mughals did not march openly, since they wanted to surprise Shivaray. But Shivaray took them by surprise at a pass known as 'Umber Khind', near present-day Pali-Khopoli Road and attacked them from all sides. Shivray himself took the forward position with chosen cavalry. The other three sides were blocked with light infantry. In a movement of light infantry and cavalry, Shivray prevailed over them. Within four hours the enemy accepted defeat.
Khan had no choice but to surrender and beg for a safe passage. Shivaray’s small army of 1,000 had trapped and defeated a well-equipped army of 20,000. Shivray agreed to let Khan and his army leave Umberkhind and return to Khan's home base in Pune provided that Khan and his army left behind their equipment including their weapons, horses and food, and allowed anyone who wished to do so to join Shivaray’s army.
Shivaray and his assistants inspected each person to ensure that they had followed the terms of the truce. Once Khan's army had left the battle area, Shivaray army spent the rest of that day collecting, classifying and packing all items. Then they moved back towards Raj Gad.
