GETTING READY
Things to carry
Carrying your macro lens is a primary need. However, there are good opportunities to use wide angle lenses for landscapes as well.
Carry fully charged batteries for your camera / flash.
Carry battery charger. Carry extra pack of camera batteries
Carry backup memory cards / HDD storage drives, Laptop
Fill your camera bag with silica gel to protect your gadgets from moisture. They are available in chemist shops.

SUMERU TREKKERS (The Adventure out there)   INVITES YOU FOR A ONE DAY RAINY TREK TO HARIHARON 4TH October 2015   About Harihar fortHarihar fort appears to be rectangular in shape from its base village. It is built on a triangular prism of rock. Its three faces and two edges are absolutely vertical (90 degrees). The third edge towards the west is inclined at an angle of 75 degrees. A one metre wide rocky staircase with niches in it is carved out for ascending & descending the fort. There are 117 steps in all. After you climb the first rocky staircase (main entrance) we walk thru below a overhang with a sheer drop. Again one has to climb a set of steep stairs (with niches), then pass thru a staircase inside the rock (like Peth-kothligad fort) and then reach the top of the fort. The view from the top is excellent. After climbing these steps, we get up to the entrance door. The fort has got a tapering plateau with a raised level in the middle. There is a small temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva on the plateau. A small pond is there in front of this temple. Water from this pond can be used for drinking. Making headway from here we come across a palace having two rooms in it. 10 to 12 persons can be accommodated in this palace. One of the vertical drops of the fort facing the Nirgudpada village is called 'Scottish kada', perhaps because it was climbed for the first time in November 1986 by Doug Scott, the legendary Himalayan mountaineer & took him two days to do the climb. This cliff is about 170 meters in height.   Summary:  Type    : Hill Fort Time    : 3 TO 4 Hours from base village Height  :3676 Ft. Grade   : MEDIUM Region  :Igatpuri Date    : 04-10-2015 (Sunday) Participants :50 Only,(First come first serve)   Cost 1000/- per head       Includes,  1)Dadar to Base Village & Base Village to Dadar in Private bus 2)Morning Breakfast & Tea , 3)Lunch 4)Evening Tea/Coffee.5)First aid and Expertise charges.   Trek Schedule : 03rd... It is the Kuladaivat of a lot of Kokanastha Chitpavan Brahmins (Surnames like Patwardhan,Godbole, Damle, Oak, Phadke, Apte, Abhyankar, Soman, Bhat, Ranade, Joglekar, Agashe, Kelkar, Deodhar, Pethe, Gadre).• Ufarata Ganpati - This temple of Lord Ganesha is 200 metres away from Bazaar, on the road to Anjanvel/Veldoor. There is a legend associated with this idol, that's worth taking a note.Bamanghal on the Hedvi Beach• Guhagar Beach - Guhagar beach is one of the cleanest and less polluted beaches in Maharashtra. It is located just within 200 metres from Guhagar S.T. Depot towards west. The beach looks pretty safe though there are warnings posted by local villagers. Off late, Chat stalls have started making business on the shore.View of Budhal Village• Velaneshwar - Approximately 25 KM south of Guhagar, along Guhagar-Hedvi road, is located this beautiful temple of Lord Shiva. Anandwan is the realization of a dream of one man - Baba Amte and his team of volunteers. Founded in 1948 and registered in 1951, Anandwan today is a self contained village. After marriage, Baba began working for leprosy struck patients just outside Warora, and started 11 weekly clinics there. He later started Anadwan which literally means 'Forest of joy'.Baba visited Hemalkasa Gadchiroli in 1973 and found the condition of the Madia Gond tribe there to be appalling. The area was completely cut off from civilization. Illiteracy being a total and medical care completely unheard of, malnutrition, leprosy, malaria and tuberculosis were rife. As daunting as the conditions then were, in 1974, Baba's son Dr. Prakash and his wife Mandakini volunteered and built a small hut for themselves and a big hut on the land of 50 acres given by the government. Not only did they cure patients, but also ... Read more

Alang fort :Alang Fort (also Alangad) is a fort in Nashik district, Maharashtra, India. It is one of the three forts, the others being Madangad and Kulang, in the Kalsubai range of the Western Ghats. They are the most difficult to reach forts in Nasik District. A dense forest cover make these treks difficult. These three forts are a little neglected due to very heavy rains in the area and a difficult confusing path to the forts
Kulang fort :Being in the same region of the three forts the climb to Kulang is the most difficult. On the way up climbing we come across patches of rock cut steps. It take 6 hours to reach from Kulanwadi to the fort. On the fort we can see around 5 water cisterns. Form here we could also see Mahuli with the 3 pinacles. One can also stay at the caves here.
Madan fort :The time taken to reach here is roughly 3-4 hours after leaving Kulung fort. Over here rock climbing would be required as the wall of the steps was destroyed during the cannon fire. Use of a fixed rope is required. There is one large cave on this fort and 2 water cistern. The top of the fort is a huge plateau. On the fort, there are two caves, a small temple and 11 water cisterns. Remnants of buildings are spread over the fort. Malvan : Malvan is a town in Sindhudurg District, the southernmost district of Maharashtra. This culturally and historically important town is a Taluka place in Sindhudurg District. Malvan taluka consists of villages Aangnechi wadi, Achra, Khalchi Devli, Jamdul, Juva, Pankhol and Sarjekot. Malvan is wellknown for its historical monument, the Sindhudurg fort, which is beautiful and vast in area. Malwani Folk are very hardworking and helpful. The main occupation here is fishing. The staple diet of Malvani people is fish and rice.It is also known for its variety of mangos (Malvani Hapus – Alphonso). Sweets such as Malvani Khaja (Made from Gram – besan flour and coated jaggery) and Malvani Ladoos are famous across the state.A very important part of Malavni culture is a Malvani Dashavtar, a drama-play based on mythological stories. There are many interesting places to visit in Malvan and this can be noticed with the recent increase in forieng visitors to this region.
Malawan Fort :
The name of this fort is given to Sindhudurg district. Tourists from all over the world visit this great sea fort. Sindhudurg was built with the help of huge rocks on the 'Kurte’ island, which amazes people, and one appreciates the vision and foresight of "Great Maratha King Shivaji ".
Bharadi devi : Bharadi Devi(goddess) is one goddess one just can’t think of missing when one is in Malvan. This is the famous "active goddess" situated at Anganewadi, 14 kms from Malvan. Angnewadi is the small hamlet of Masure village. The Bharadi devi (goddess) is very famous for her wish-fulfilling power. Devotees express their wish before her and once the wish is fulfilled they come to express their gratitude

Tarkarli Beach : Tarkarli is a narrow stretch of beach with pristine waters, located at the convergence of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea. This place has gained prominence because of its transparently clear seas, where on a fairly sunny day, one can see the sea- bed up to a depth of 20 feet. This beach can be rightly called as 'Queen Beach' of Sindhudurg. Sea and sand blending in enchanting natural harmony, gracefully cruising boats in calm and cool river waters add to the beauty of this beach.
Kunkeshwar Temple :
Kunkeshwar
Kunkeshwar Temple, an ancient Shiva Temple is located in Kunkeshwar village, 14 Kms from Devgad town. A pristine beach with a very long stretch of seashore and white sand adds to the beauty of temple surroundings.
Rameshwar : Some destinations own such historical peculiarities which sets them apart from other ones. Place named Achara is one of them. It's a small village in Malvan Taluka. We are all aware that in historical times people were gifted with "Inams, Jagirs or Watan(land)" by kings or emperors for their achievements. Achara too is Inam or Jagir, but it's owner or Inamdar (landowner) is not a layman. Chhatrapati Shambhu Raje of Kolhapur gave this Inam to Shri Dev Rameshwar ( i.e. Lord Shiva). Achara boasts the historical temple of Lord Shiva, popularly known as 'inamdar Shri Dev Rameshwar' Architecture of the temple is grand and spectacular.
Parshuram Temple : In this village(Achara) there is a well known temple of Bhagwan Parshuram because of it this village got this name. Tourists who want to enjoy natural beauty of this area should reserve some time during the trip.
People here used to know time from the sound from cannon. This temple is an excellent example of ancient sculpture. The atmosphere of this temple fascinates everyone. Calm and beautiful nature and idol of Parshuram made up of black stone and other idols charming appearance take us in different world. The building of this temple is also an excellent example of architecture.

Vijaydurga Fort : The oldest fort on Sindhudurg coast constructed in the regime of Raja Bhoj of shilahar dynasty in 1205 (construction period 1193-1205). The fort was earlier known as “Gheria” as it is situated in the village “Girye. The earlier fort encompassed area of 5 acres and was surrounded by sea on all the 4 sides. Over the years the eastern trench was reclaimed and the road was constructed theron. Presently the area of fort is about 17 acres and is surrounded by Arabian sea on its three sides. (1 acre= 4840 sq yards).
The Architectural marvel:
1) The 200m long, undersea/underland tunnel from the fort to the Dhulap's palatial house in the village is man-made. The roof of the tunnel has been pinched to protect it from land-slides and it is also well ventilated. Now the tunnel is partially blocked. Using latest technology if this tunnel is cleared it will be a major tourist attraction and will be of great help for architectural students/history lovers.
2) The fencing compound wall constructed at 8-10 m depth undersea, 300ft from the fort is another architectural wonder. The wall constructed with laterite stones is 122 mtr long, 3 mtr high & 7 mtr in breadth. Majority of attacking ships met their watery grave after colliding on this wall as this wall is not visible above the sea level.

Tarkarli Known for its white sandy beach and water sport activities, Tarkarli is situated in Malvan taluka of Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra.
The beach in Tarkarli is arguably one of the most picturesque beaches in Konkan region of Maharashtra. The white sand, clear blue water and the suru (casurina) trees add to the splendor of the beach. The sea at Tarkarli is crystal clear and the seabed can be seen up to a depth of 15 ft or more on a sunny day.
Another attraction of Tarkarli is the backwaters of Karli river which extend from Tarkarli to Kudal. It is the only place to experience the backwater experience in Maharashtra. The estuary of Karli river is another scenic spot located near Tarkarli. In 2003, Maharashtra state tourism department started houseboats on the lines of Kerala on the Karli river to attract tourists.
Tarkarli is the only place in Maharashtra where you can indulge in snorkeling and scuba-diving. One can hire guides and expert for these water sports activities. Special certified courses are also conducted. The state-run MTDC too has started training centers for scuba-diving and snorkeling.
Tarkarli is situated close to tourist attractions like the Sindhudurg fort, Malvan town, Kolamb beach and Dharampur lake. Sindhudurg was the headquarters of Maratha King Shivaji's navy. Malvan town in Sindhudurg is known for its scenic beauty and cuisines which is predominantly seafood based.

Brahmand Darshan inviting you to join for Astro Tour – Star Gazing On the Mountain Top
In this modern age of bright lights and big cities, busy lifestyles, and constant social connections, it is sometimes easy to lose sight of life's simpler pleasures. Take, for example, a beautiful night sky with countless stars shimmering overhead. There are few things that can inspire a feeling of awe and wonder like gazing up at the celestial light show taking place above us every night.
On a clear evening, in the right location, it can be almost overwhelming.
Not all destinations are created equal when it comes to enjoying these views, however, as light pollution, smog, and other manmade elements can conspire with one another to blot out the heavens. But fear not: There are still destinations on Planet Earth that offer spectacular views of the night sky for us to enjoy.
Proudly standing in front of the 2nd highest plateau in Asia – Table Top (1334 meters) and most popular Panchgani (Mahableshwar) the Five Mountains. Panchgani
sparkles with endless opportune moments to catch a glimpse of that starry night sky and you will witness an extraordinary sight. Twinkling before you, like a set of shimmering diamonds upon a silken sheath of black velvet, are countless colorful stars & constellations. Dazzling with celestial bodies from the Cassiopiea – Queen to the Orion, the Hunter, to Leo – Lion you don't have to be an avid astronomer to appreciate these breathtakingly beautiful star patterns.

About:
Harishchandragad: The fort is quite ancient, considered to be from the medieval period. The various Puranas (ancient scriptures) like Matsyapurana, Agnipurana and Skandapurana include many references about Harishchandragad. The Great sage Changdev (creator of the epic Tatvasaar) used to meditate on Taramati/Rohidas in 14th century. The caves are also from the same period. Harishchandra gad was captured by the Marathas in 1747 from the Moguls.
Taramati: Also known as Taramanchi. This is the top most point on the fort. It is the second highest peak in Maharashtra after kalsubai. Leopards are seen in the forests beyond this peak. From here we can have a glimpse of the whole range of Naneghat and the forts near Murbad and Napta twin peaks,Ghodishep (865 meters),Ajoba (1375 meters),Kulang fort (1471 meters)in the north near the Kasara region.
Konkan Kada (Konkan cliff): The most fascinating spot on this fort is this cliff, which has always fascinated many people from many years. The cliff faces west and looks down upon the Konkan with a breathtaking view of the surrounding region and sunset. This cliff is not just vertical; it is an overhang, almost like a cobra's hood. One amazing phenomenon that can be observed at this place is the vertical cloud burst, in which the clouds nearing the cliff get sucked into the pit fall area below are thrown vertically into the sky reaching more than 50 feet (15 m).
Kedareshwar: The cave of Kedareshwar has a big Shivlinga, which is totally surrounded by water. It is quite difficult to reach the Shivlinga because the water is ice-cold. There are sculptures carved out here. Local legend holds that when the forth piller breaks, the world will come to an end..

Summary:     One day trek to Harihar  Date:             01st November 2015, Sunday Height:          3676 ft Region:         Igatpuri Trek Fees:     750/- Includes :- Travelling expenses from Kasara Morning Breakfast, Evening Refreshment. Expertise.   About Harihar fort  Harihar fort appears to be rectangular in shape from its base village. It is built on a triangular prism of rock. Its three faces and two edges are absolutely vertical (90 degrees). The third edge towards the west is inclined at an angle of 75 degrees. A one meter wide rocky staircase with niches in it is carved out for ascending & descending the fort.
