TRAILBLAZERS ADVENTURE CLUB has organized a trek to this magnificient fort on Suanday,13 January 2012.Its a medium grade trek and any one can join in.The height of the trek is 3100ft and gets completed within 3 hours.Kothaligad (the Original name) is more commonly known as the fort of Peth because the village of Peth is situated at its base. This Fort lies in the Karjat region of Sayhyadri ranges.Peth is a hill fort.The pinnacle of the Peth can be seen from the village. It looks like a filed surface. On reaching the top of the fort, we see caves carved in huge rocks. The first one is the cave of Goddess, besides which is water cistern and the last one is the specious Bhairoba cave. A flat floor and well-sculpted pillars are specialty of the cave. Along the Bhairoba cave, steps are carved leading the pinnacle.
Four–Five potholes and some cannon balls are scattered in the fort. Kalwawantinicha Mahal, Nagfani, Siddhagad, Malanggad, Chanderi, Prabalgad, Manikgad, and Matheran all these surrounding historical places are visible from top of the fort Peth.


The Itinerates of the schedule is as given below:

  • On Sunday,13 Jan 2013 we will be boarding Karjat Slow Local at CST Station, which leave CST at 5:40am and reach Karjat at around 8:00 am.
  • After Reaching Karjat, we will have light breakfast and Tea near station and the proceed towards the base of the the hill.
  • On Reaching the base,we will START the trek and reach till Pethechi wadi village,
  •  On reaching the Pethechi wadi, we will take short break with Tea and refreshments and then proceed towards the fort.
  • On Reaching the Fort we will have Fort exploration,Sight seeing and photography time. This way we will spend some good amount of time on the fort.
  • Finally we will proceed back to the Pethechi wadi for Lunch and then further proceed back to the base.
  • On reaching base, we will come back to Karjat station and then further back to Mumbai.


Things To be Carried:

  • ·         IDENTITY PROOF (Compulsory)
    ·         Water atleast 2-3 Litres
    ·         Your personal medication. If you have any kind of medical conditions and have a specific medication prescribed BY YOUR DOCTORS. TRAILBLAZERS REQUEST YOU TO CARRY ALONG WITH YOU FOR THE EXPEDITION.Along with this your doctors phone no.
    ·         Any ready to eat light snacks like biscuits, chocolates, fruit drinks, energy drinks etc
    ·         Carry a napkin & or towel
    ·         SWEATERS or WINCHEATERS (COMPULSORY)
    ·         SHOES,either sports shoes or hunters.You may carry a pair of sandals or floaters WHICH you may use AFTER the TREK
    ·         HAVER SACK bags in which you will carry all your above mentioned belongings (No jholas or Slings as it causes serious discomfort while trekking)
    ·         And last but not the least, CAMERA

The cost of the trek will be Rs. 600/- per head 
·         Local Tickets from CST-KARJAT return
·         Tea and Breakfast at Karjat
·         Private vehicle which will be used for transportation from Karjat to Base village and later after the expedition base to Karjat station.
·         Tea and Refreshments in the Pethechi Wadi village
·         Lunch at Pethechi wadi village

RULES & REGULTIONS
Do Not Litter: Participants are requested to carry the waste back to the city and dispose it off in dustbins.
No Smoking, tobacco and alcohol: Smoking cigarette, chewing tobacco or related products and consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited on the trek. Anyone found in possession of the same or consuming it will be expelled from the trek. NO REFUND will be provided.
(Smoking will only be permitted before the trek starts and after the trek is over with prior consultation of the Leader and the person will have to move away from the group to smoke.)
Respect the Heritage: Participants should not deface or damage any monument by writing or scribbling on them.
Be in the a group and be a part of the group.
Pay attention: Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage.
