A TREK TO VALLEY OF FLOWERS

Nestled in the West Himalayan region, Valley of Flowers covers a vast expanse of 87.5 sqkms with myriad alpine flowers. Valley of Flowers is situated in Bhyundar Valley at an elevation of 3658m above sea level. You will encounter numerous cascading waterfalls on the route to Valley of Flowers. The region of Valley of Flowers is rich in varied Flora and Fauna. The Valley of Flowers was declared as the "National Park" of India in the year 1982 and it is now a world heritage site. The virgin beauty of this mystical valley has always lured botanists, nature lovers and adventure lovers.

Itinerary:

17th Aug 2013
Day 1: Rishikesh to Govindghat
(Distance: 270km, Travel Time: 7-8 hrs, Elevation: Govindghat: 6151 ft)
Departure from Rishikesh early morning and commence our drive to Govindghat via
Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Karanprayag – Chamoli – Pipalkoti.
Lunch enroute. Tea before Joshimath, which is winter home of Sri Badrinath.
Drive further to Govindghat, check into hotel overnight & meals at hotel.

18th Aug 2013
Day 2: Govindghat to Ghangria
(Trek: 14km, Trek time: ~6hrs, Elevation Ghangria: 10,000ft)
Govindghat is at the confluence of Laxman Ganga and Alaknanda rivers. Trek from Govindghat through dense vegetation to Ghangria, which is the basecamp for Valley of Flowers and Hemkund trek. Rivers Pushpavati and Hemganga meet here to form Laxmanganga.

19th Aug 2013
Day 3: Ghangria – Valley of Flowers – Ghangria
(Distance: 7km return, Trek time: 4hrs, Elevation Valley of Flowers: 11,483 – 12,998 ft)
Start trek early morning from Ghangria to Valley of Flowers. The valley boasts of more than 300 species of rare wild flowers including the blue poppy, pink geraniums, blue and yellow pansies to name a few. After spending the day exploring the whole area, we head back to Ghangria by evening.

Day 4: Ghangria – Valley of Flowers – Ghangria
We explore the valley once again.
21st Aug 2013
Day 5: Ghangria – Hemkund Sahib – Ghangria
(Distance: 5km, Trek time: 3hrs, Elevation Hemkund Sahib: 15,200ft)
Trek to lake Hemkund Sahib. Hemkund is a bluish green lake flanked by snow covered peaks. 5km steep trek to Hemkund along the Hemganga which emanates from Hemkund.

22nd Aug 2013
Day 6: Ghangria – Govindghat
(Distance: 14km, Trek time: 5hrs, Elevation Govindghat: 6151ft)
Early morning start trek to Govindghat from Ghangria. Relax and overnight at Govindghat.

23rd Aug 2013
Day 7: Govindghat – Badrinath – Mana – Badrinath
(Distance: 27km, Travel Time: 1hr)
After early morning breakfast, we drive to Mana village which is the last village before Mana pass. It is 24km away from Indo-China border. With packed lunch, we will trek to Vasudhara falls which is 5km away. Return from Vasudhara falls / Mana village to Badrinath.

24th Aug 2013
Day 8: Badrinath – Haridwar
(Distance: 297kms, Travel time: ~10hrs)
Early morning departure for Haridwar, Breakfast and lunch enroute. The group will be dropped at Haridwar railway station in the evening.

Total cost of the trek: 19000/-

Registration charges: 5000/- (Non-refundable)
Remaining amount should be paid 30 days prior to journey date.

Payment details will be provided on request.

Inclusions:

All travel charges from Haridwar to Haridwar mentioned in the itinerary by SUV (Bolero) / Tempo traveller.
Accommodation on twin sharing basis in tourist guest houses at Govindghat and Ghangria.
Trek guide.
All forest entries.
All meals during 8 days.
Morning evening tea, cookies.

Exclusions:

Any railway / air fare.
Personal expenses like laundry, telephone, alcoholic beverages, medical expenses, gratuities etc.
Any insurance.
Anything that is not mentioned under inclusions.
Cost arising from any unforeseen circumstances.
