Moonlight trek to sinhagad via Katraj (K2S)

Dear Rangers, We at Wild Rangers have arranged the Night trek to Sinhagad  via Katraj (K2S) on 21 and 22 May 2016   Katraj to Sinhagad or as we call it "K2S" is a popular night trek for professional trekkers, amateurs and newbies. The route starts from the Katraj Tunnel Top (Old), travels through a series of 14 mountains and hills and approximately (16kms.) which leads to the destination the Top of Sinhagad Fort. It is definitely a trek which will test your physical fitness, stamina and endurance.   Destination Highlights   Katraj Ghat:   The Route which connects Pune to the South Maharashtra. Both, Katraj Tunnel and Sinhagad are connected by a single mountain range. This connecting mountain range gives fascinating view of slopes and valleys surrounded by Pune and the amazing view of Pune city. All these things make one test the stamina, patience and endurance. Which makes the trek, a perfect one to start off the trekking, and for this reason the Trek has become one of the favorites amongst the Trekkers.   Sinhagad:   Sinhagad is a fortress located roughly 30 kilometers southwest of the city of Pune, India. Previously called Kondhana, the fort has been the site of many important battles, most notably the battle of Sinhagad in 1670. It was also strategically located at the centre of a string of other forts such as Rajgad, Purandar and Torna. Perched on an isolated cliff of the Bhuleswar range of the Sahyadri Mountains, it is situated on a hill rising 1312 meters above sea level. Hight of this fort is 3100 ft above sea level. This fort is also known as Kothaligad because of the internally excavated stairs at the fort top. This process is called bioluminescence and is shared by many other organisms, mostly sea-living or marine organisms. Fireflies light up to attract a mate. To do this, the fireflies contain specialized cells in their abdomen that make light.   Rajmachi fort: Rajmachi is a fort in Karjat region. There are two forts which were built by Shivaji Emperor during 17th century. It is a famous spot for trekking. It is a 17 km trekking distance from Lonavla. Rajmachi fort is a strategic fort overlooking Borghat(ghat between Mumbai and Pune) which was a historical trade route. Rajmachi peak has two fortified structures – the Shrivardhan fort and Manoranjan fort. Rajmachi can be reached by 2 ways, 1St route from Kondivide village near Karjat and the other long way route from Lonavala. In rainy season this place is filled with giant waterfalls and greenery. It is located near the Machi and Vajepur villages.   Prabalgad Fort is located between Matheran and Panvel in the Indian state of Maharashtra, at an elevation of 2300 feet in the Western Ghats. It was built on a plateau very close to Matheran, but unlike Matheran it does not have a good source of water. Peb Fort is situated on northeast side of Panvel on  Mumbai-Pune road at a distance of 3-4 km on west side of Neral. This is the most beautiful one-day trek. The fort is also named as 'VikatGad'.  We can clearly see the ridge connecting mountains of Matheran and Peb.
