Dear Friends we invite you all for FireFlies Special Trek to Prabalmachi with MumbaiRangers on 28 may 2016 Leaving friday Night 27 May   The village of Prabalmachi is the 'base camp' for a trek up the Prabalgad Fort. just Before Monsoon starts Millions Of Fireflies gather to attract their Mates. We Get opportunity to Witness these amazing bugs. Kalavantin is a 500m high pinnacle on the northern edge of the Prabal plateau. It is located near the Machi and Vajepur villages.   Prabalgad Fort is located between Matheran and Panvel in the Indian state of Maharashtra, at an elevation of 2300 feet in the Western Ghats. It was built on a plateau very close to Matheran, but unlike Matheran it does not have a good source of water. It was known as Muranjan until it was taken over and renamed by the Maratha forces under Shivaji's rule. The fort contains a temple to Ganesh and some stone ruins. Its sister fort is Irshalgad. The Ulahas River runs to the east of the fort. The Gadhi River, and the Chanderi and Peb forts are to the west. Yeah Harishchandragadit is!Harishchandragad is a hill fort in the Ahmednagar District of India. Its history is linked with that of Malshej Ghat kothale village and it has played a major role in guarding and controlling the surrounding region.The fort is quite ancient. Remnants of Microlithic man have been discovered here. The various Puraan's (ancient scriptures) like Matsyapurana, Agnipurana and Skandapurana include many references about Harishchandragad. Its origin is said to have been in the 6th century, during the rule of Kalachuri dynasty.This cliff faces west and looks down upon the Konkan. It provides a scenic view of the surrounding region and the setting sun. The cliff has an overhang, but has been climbed many times. Sometimes a circular rainbow (Brocken Spectre phenomenon) can be seen from this point.
