Dear friends we invite you for Fire Flies Special Night trek to Harischandragad and Konkankada by MumbaiRangers on 29 may 2016 Leaving 28 May saturday Night Ascend and descend via Pachnai.   Harischandragad is one of the most visited forts in Western Ghats. If you are trekking in Sahyadri for several years and you haven't visited Harishchandragad then you haven't trekked enough. This enormous fort has 7 routes and during this trek we will be doing most simple route ie Pachnai Route. Its the easiest way to explore Harishchandragad without facing much exhaustion. Pachnai route might be the simplest route but its very scenic. Since it does not take out your breath, you are more appreciative to your surroundings.   Harishchandragad: The fort is quite ancient, considered to be from the medieval period. The Great sage Changdev (one who created the epic Tatvasaar), used to meditate on Taramati/Rohidas in 14th century. The caves are also from the same period. Harishchandragad was captured by the Marathas in 1747 from the Moguls.   Konkan Kada: The most interesting point on this fort is this cliff, which has always fascinated many people from many years. The cliff faces west and looks down upon the Konkan with a breathtaking view of the surrounding region and sunset. This cliff is not just vertical; it is an overhang, almost like a cobra's hood.   Kedareshwar: The cave of Kedareshwar has a big Shivlinga, which is totally surrounded by water. Some Information about the Fort: Height of Fort – Harischandragad -1424m (4671ft) Base Village- Pachnai. The fort of Anjaneri, being the birthplace of lord 'Hanuman', has a great historical importance! On the way from Anjaneri village to the Fort some carvings can be seen in the caves near the steps. Kalsubai Trek on 9th-10th July 2016 with Mapping Journeys!

Posted: 09 May 2016 01:57 AM PDT

Team Mapping Jourmeys!   Kalsubai Trek!   Date : 9th-10th July 2016. Type: Peak.Height: 5400ft (Highest peak of Maharashtra)Grade: Medium (Roughly 2.5 - 3hrs to climb) Base Village: Bari. Location :  Bhandardara Region, nearest town Igatpuri. Cost : 1250rs per person. Kalsubai, according to local legend, was the name of a tormented daughter-in-law who ran away to the top of a hill to escape harassment from her in-laws. She is believed to have disappeared here and the locals built a temple in her memory on the peak's summit. The hill is named Kalsubai after her.  Kalsubai, though a highest peak, from trekking point of view is comparatively easy. The peak has a temple which many pilgrims aim at visiting. Hence, for such pilgrim trekkers, government and local villagers have made the route easy and safe by putting ladders and staircase wherever necessary. So reaching to the top is just a test of your stamina and not mountaineering skill. But once you reach the top then you get an absolutely uninterrupted view of the surroundings. No other peak pokes its nose between you and the spectacular view! :D AN ENDURING SAAS-BAHU SAGA Kalsubai, according to local legend, was the name of a tormented daughter-in-law who ran away to the top of a hill to escape harassment from her in-laws.
