Trek Mates India invites you to Waterfall Rappelling at Vihi  in Monsoon  on  Sunday 12th June 16.   About the Waterfall Rappelling :   Date:12th June 16 Location: Kasara.Height: Approx 120 feetGrade: Medium.     Waterfall Rappelling Rappelling (English Name) also known as abseiling (German Name) is a method of a quick and safe descend after a climb. It's an act of descending a mountain face by sliding down a rope, which is attached to a body harness and fastened to an overhead projection, with sufficient friction provided as to make the speed of descent controllable.The only difference here is we will be rappelling down through a flowing waterfall, pouring water on us as we come down.It's the best exercise to overcome the fear of height. Feel the thrill of suspension at the height of about 100 feet's. Come experience the incredible feeling of success and accomplishment when you touch the ground.       Itinerary of the event:  Day 1: Sunday,12th June 16   Reach Kasara by 9.11 am. (Check the recommended train timings in travel section )Meeting Point - Ticket booking counter at Kasara stationMeet your leaders, proceed towards Vihi village by local transport (Sumo / Trax)Breakfast and Introduction session at Vihi village. We at Mumbai Green Chapter would like to invite you all to thrilling and chilling NIGHT trek to Kothaligad.   About Kothaligad: The cave and the temple carvings date back to the 13th century. Not much is known about the history until the 18th century. In 1716, this cave was captured by the British. Then later on, on November 2, 1817, it was recaptured by the Marathas under the leadership of Bapurao who belonged to the generation after Bajirao. From Kothaligad directions were given to know the advancements of the enemy. In fact, it can be called a watch tower to keep a vigil on the Mawal area in the greater province of the Marathas. There is a small temple and large cave at the base and a chimney like tunnel to the top of the fort. This pinnacle is carved from inside forming a staircase reaching the top. There is a tank of water at some distance from the cave and another one at the top of the fort. The stone is a single black expanse reaching till the Peth village standing on the fertile soil with abundant natural resources for water and farming. Height: 3100 FT Grade: Easy (Perfect for beginners) Date : 14 May 16 Things to Carry: 1. Extra Clothes 2. Sleeping bag / mat/ pull over/News Papers 3. Personal Medicines/ and mosquito repellant 4. Hight of this fort is 3100 ft above sea level. This fort is also known as Kothaligad because of the internally excavated stairs at the fort top. During the specific period of pre-monsoon, thousands of fireflies males glow in  mating display to attract females. This is one of the best natural phenomena one can expect… History : This fort is very small in size but was used as an ammunition storage and defense station during Sambhaji Maharaj's era. The bountiful rains, good greenery and  waterfalls around. Garbett Plateau is located in the south – west direction of Matheran, offering a 360 degree view of one of our all-time favourite  hill stations. Matheran is Famous & splendid hill station in Maharashtra, it covers an area of 8 square kilometres in Sahyadris. Dear Friends we invite you for Cycle Ride to Aarey Colony with MumbaiRangers on 29 May 2016 Sunday Morning   Aarey Milk Colony established in 1949 is situated in Goregaon East, a suburb of Mumbai. It has gardens, a nursery, lakes, an observation pavilion, picnic facilities, and milk plants. The colony is spread over 16 square kilometres (4,000 acres) and is located off the Western Express Highway. Among the attractions in it are Chhota Kashmir with a lake and a picnic spot. The colony has restaurants and gardens and an observation pavilion. It is also used for film shootings.   As we Cycle in an around we can spot buffaloes, hay stacks, calves and derelict homes. The lake is unmissable, and we see people sedately paddling in paddleboats around the lake. The uphill road is past the Aarey Police Chowk. When you get there you are met with a children's park and gardens that are at different levels. There is enough of greenery to wander around, and many places where you can spread a mat and roll out a picnic basket. WSR Night Camping Trek to Matheran Charlotte Lake on 28th May 2016 A little Info about Matheran: Matheran is a hill station and a municipal council in the Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a hill station in Karjat Tahsil and is also the smallest hill station in India. It is located on the Western Ghats range at an elevation of around 800 m (2,625 feet) above sea level. NOTE – Since this lake is the only drinking water source for the hill station, swimming is prohibitted.
