Besides an open Shiva temple there is a small perennial drinking water cistern on top, three caves of which the larger can be used as overnight shelter, like as on many other such natural hill forts of Maharashtra Western Ghats (Sahyadri Range). Dear All, We @ Shikhar Vedh has arranged Konkankada Camping @ Trekkers Paradise-Harishchandrgad on 28-29th May 2016 for Fireflies & possible Indravajra - a circular rainbow phenomena ;) ...   Hope 2 c u on trek with us to NJoy again   Brief Introduction about Harishchandragad:   Height: 1412 meters (4510 feet) Grade:EasyTime: ~ 2 hrs from Pachnai, Base Village Location:Nagar region   Harishchandragad: The fort is quite ancient, considered to be from the Medieval period. The Great sage Changdev (one who created the epic Tatvasaar), used to meditate on Taramati/Rohidas in 14th century. The caves are also from the same period. Harishchandragad was captured by the Marathas in 1747 from the Moguls. Konkan Kada: The most interesting point on this fort is this cliff, which has always fascinated many people from many years. The cliff faces west and looks down upon the Konkan with a breathtaking view of the surrounding region and sunset. This cliff is not just vertical; it is an overhang, almost like a cobra's hood. Kedareshwar: The cave of Kedareshwar has a big Shivlinga, which is totally surrounded by water.Indrawraj / Circular Rainbow phenomenon: During the beginning of monsoon sometimes a circular rainbow (the Brocken spectre phenomenon) can be seen from Konkan Kada. It can be seen only when there is a bit of mist in the valley, and the sun is right behind the person facing the valley. The other phenomenon that can be observed at this place is the vertical cloud burst, in which the clouds nearing the cliff get sucked into the pit fall area below and are thrown vertically into the sky reaching more than 50 feet (15 m), creating the impression of a wall that is rising straight from the edge of the cliff without entering the landmass area.
