Nature meets Ancient Culture
SGNP welcomes you all for enjoying a unique overnight camp that brings together the best of nature and ancient culture and learn the best of both. This camp will have a special focus on the Kanheri caves located in the heart of SGNP. Carved out of a single black rock, the cave complex consists of more than 140 caves with the earliest ones dating to more than 2000 years back.
Participants will be introduced to these caves by Dr. Suraj Pandit (Head of Departments of History and Ancient Culture at Sathye College, Mumbai). Dr. Suraj has studied these ancient caves extensively for more than a decade and his studies and explorations have earned him his PhD degree from Mumbai University.
This camp guarantees a never before experience of the forest and probably the earliest civilization of Mumbai city.
