DarkGreen Adventure invites you to spend a night in nature's lap and go for early morning trek to the famous Karnala fort. Karnala Bird Sanctuary is located near Panvel with an area of 12.11 km2. It is centred around historic karnala fort and home to about 150 species of bird including three rare birds i.e. Ashy Minivet, three toed kingfisher and Malabar Trogon. Trek to the karnala fort is an absolute beginner's trek amidst the natural flora of the enclosed sanctuary. The relative ease of this trail also provides an excellent opportunity for parents to introduce their children to trekking and nature. After a final walk up to the bastion, one is presented with a splendid 360 degree view of the surrounding Raigad district. A 125 ft high basalt pillar sticks out like a thumb at the centre of the peak. It is clearly visible from far away on all the sides. Brief Itinerary: 26th March, Saturday 20:00 - Gather at Panvel Railway Station 20:15 - Start travelling to Karnala Bird Sanctuary in a local vehicle 21:30 - Reach Karnala, Check-in and Dinner 23:00 - Short trail in nearby jungle 27th March, Sunday 06:00 - Start trekking to Karnala fort. Early morning hours is good for trekking and also believed to be best time for bird-watching. Breakfast on the way 09:30 - Reach fort and explore 10:30 - Start descending 12:00 - Reach base and fresh-up. Have Lunch 14:00 - Start travelling to Panvel in local vehicle 15:00 - Reach Panvel Station and take your return train.
