It is situated at the edge of the Singalila National Park in Darjeeling district on the West Bengal-Nepal border, and is the highest point of the Singalila Ridge. Sandakphu has a small village on the peak with few hostels. Four of the five highest peaks in the world, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu can be seen from its summit. The primary reason for this being the spectacular rock-cut steps at a 75-80 degree incline and the mesmerizing overhang gallery. Duke's Nose, also known as Nagphani is a cliff at Khandala near Lonavala. The cliff is pointed like a snake's pointed head portion (hood) and hence the name.  A simple trek to reach the summit is from the southern approach. The trekker is rewarded with amazing views of the Mumbai-Pune road and rail corridors, as well as great views of Khandala and the surrounding Sahyadri peaks.
