A Night Under the Stars – Adventure & Wilderness.

SGNP is teaming with the best names in Adventure Sports equipment and training to conduct overnight adventure and outdoor education camps here in Mumbai. Teaming up with the Petzl Corporation, we are pleased to announce new itineraries for our best selling overnight camps. These camps will offer a unique mix of nature and adventure activities and topped up by a starry night experience as well! Mumbaikars’ do make use of this opportunity as the forest promises to awe-inspire you all with a scintillating camping delight.
Special Offer: All participants/ families will get a free annual subscription to ‘Adventure – sports and beyond’, a newly launched premium magazine dedicated to adventure sports, outdoor recreation, exploration, ecology and active lifestyles.

SATURDAY 30th January 2016
05:00 PM : Report at Nature Information Center (NIC)
Tea / Coffee
05:30 PM : Nature Trail
07.00 PM: Proceed to the campsite.
07.15 PM: Room allocation and light refreshments at campsite & Slide show on SGNP.
08.00 PM: Star Gazing session guided by professional experts
09:30 PM: Back to campsite for dinner
10.00 PM: Brief introduction about ‘Outdoor Ethics’ and ‘Basic Outdoor Skills and Techniques.’
11:00 PM: Lights out
SUNDAY 31st January 2016
05:00 AM: Wake Up Call
05.30 AM: Tea / Coffee
06:00 AM: Rappelling down the 120 feet rock face.
10:30 AM: Breakfast at the campsite

Please Note:
• Participants shall have to buy entry tickets for self and vehicle (if any).
Information and Instructions:
Accommodation: Well executed tented dormitory accommodations with comfortable bedding and blankets will be provided. Accommodations will be separate for males and females (advisable to carry your warm clothing as well; nights in the forest do get chilly)
Clean and Hygienic toilets and bathrooms; separate for males and females.
Any special requests for family accommodations can be handled by prior communications and will be separately chargeable.
Meals and Refreshments
Simple, hygienic, sumptuous vegetarian meals will be provided. Campers may carry their own dry-snacks as well.
Travel
All travel in the camp starting from NIC and back to NIC is covered.
We discourage participants to bring their own vehicles.
Onsite assistance
The camp will be guided by forest guards and resource persons. Any help needed should be communicated to them.
Resource persons
Camp will be headed by skilled naturalists and outdoor experts.
Star gazing session will be conducted by well qualified experts with high powered telescopes.
Outdoor and Adventure activities will be conducted by well trained and experienced trainers from Petzl.
Things to carry
· Water bottle to fill in water for outdoor sessions
· Cap, Warm Clothing as per your own need.
· Good footwear (canvas shoes or snickers are fine). NO chappals/slippers.
· Earth coloured (grey, brown, green) cotton shirt & jeans.
· Drab coloured Shalwar kameez is ok. Wearing full clothes is advisable.
· Binocular and camera are not a must, but they will enhance the quality of your experience.
· Personal medicines and toiletries if any are needed.
· Avoid carrying valuables (gold ornaments, ipads, too much cash etc.)
· Insect repellents.
· Torch or a decent headlamp is highly essential!

Bera: Bera is a small town situated in Rajathan, with a considerable leopard population. Bera has in recent years developed a reputation for being one of the best places to see and photograph leopards, and it is aptly know as "Leopard Country". Situated in the Aravalli Hills near the River Jawai, Bera offers great landscapes as well. Besides the "Prince of the Jungle", Bera also offers sightings of Sloth Bear, Hyaena, and Marsh Crocodile.
Mount Abu: Famous as a hill station in Rajasthan, the forest surrounding Mount Abu is rich with a whole array of endemic birds. The most famous perhaps is the Green Avadavat, a vulnerable and endemic munia, and Abu is one of the best places to spot it. Mount Abu is also home to birds like Indian Pygmy Woodpecker, Indian Blackbird, Indian Yellow Tit, Tawny-bellied Babbler, and White-bellied Drongo.

Reporting: Ahmedabad railway station at 06:30 a.m. on Day One. Drop off at Ahmedabad at 03:00 p.m. on the last day.
How to Reach: Ahmedabad is well connected by air, rail, and road with major cities. Rail: You can take BCT Duronto Exp (12268) which leaves Mumbai late at night and arrives in Ahmedabad early next morning; there are many other trains which arrive in Ahmedabad early morning.

Wada – a beautiful village place located in Palghar district; is located at 19.65°N 73.13°E. It has an average elevation of 38 metres (124 feet). Natventure Holidays – the campsite in the village is situated at about 105 Km away from Mumbai city, 85 Km from Vapi and 113 Km from Nasik. Tusya Travel and Hospitality Services & Natventure Holidays are conducting the first edition of the Wada Duathlon in the month of Feb, 2016.

Duathlon –
Duathlon is an athletic event that consists of a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then another running leg. The event is meant for all the fitness lovers who also love to Run and Ride in the rural areas.
Race Options
◦ Full Distance Solo Duathlon 40 Km Cycle + 10 Km Run
◦ Full Distance Relay Duathlon 40 Km Cycle + 10 Km Run
◦ Half Distance Solo Duathlon 20 Km Cycle + 5 Km Run
MORE ABOUT RELAY
A relay team had two participants where one is a runner and the other one a cyclist. A runner starts the race and completes the first run of 5 Km, the cyclist takes over the race after the first run is complete. The runner waits until the cyclist arrives after 40 Km. the runner again takes over the race and completes the remaining 5 Km of running.
Fees – Rs. 1000 per participant.
Inclusions:
1. Breakfast Before the Race

3. Lunch after the race (Veg / Non-Veg)
4. Water, energy drink support during the race
5. First-aid and medical support during the race
Exclusions:
1. Transport to the venue at an additional cost (Select an appropriate option while registering. You will be sent a private link via email to book your transport. Approx Rs. 400/- to and fro. )
2. Cycles on rent at an additional cost. (Select an appropriate option while registering. You will be sent a private link via email to book your cycles. )
3. Cycle transport to the venue at an additional cost. (Select an appropriate option while registering. You will be sent a private link via email to book it. Please note that cycles will be transported to the venue on Saturday evening. Those opting for cycle transport need to hand over the cycles on Saturday Feb 6, 2016. Rs. 700/- to and fro. Those who avail cycles on rent will get their cycles on Sunday morning directly at the race venue. However, they need to book cycle transport too.)
4. Stay at the venue on Saturday night at an additional cost. (Limited seats. First come first serve. Preference given to outstation participants..)
CUT-OFFS
The cut-off time for Full Duathlon Solo and Relay race is 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete 10 Km run and 40 Km cycle. Any participant, who takes more than 4 hours 30 minutes to complete the first two sections of the race, will not be eligible for a finisher's medal.
DISQUALIFICATION
1. Any participant who is caught along the route by our volunteers, while taking short-cuts will be disqualified.
2. Any participant who is caught without a helmet at any point on the cycle route will be disqualified.
3. Any participant who does not stop on the route when requested by our marshals will be disqualified.
TRANSPORTATION / CYCLE ON RENT
1. Two trips to transport participants to the venue-
1. Saturday evening at 5 pm – For outstation participants and / or for those who have availed stay facility at the venue.
2. Sunday morning at 5:30 am – For local (Mumbai) participants
2. One trip for cycle transport to the venue on Saturday at 4 pm. All local and outstation participants who avail cycle transport to hand over the cycles by 4 pm on Saturday (Venue will be shared later)
3. Cycles are available on rent at an additional cost per day with Helmet.
STAY
1. The stay at the race venue is in dormitory style. Do carry warm clothes along for extra protection. You are free to carry your own sleeping bag.
RULES
1. Helmet is mandatory
2. NO ROAD BIKES ALLOWED. Only MTBs or Hybrids
CANCELLATION AND REFUND
1. Cancellation is allowed only up to 7th Jan.
2. We will be deducting the processing charges of Rs. 200/- per registration. You will be refunded with the remaining amount.
3. No cancellation and refund after 7th Jan, 2016.
PRIZES
1. Top three athletes in all Solo categories and top three teams in all Relay categories will be felicitated.
2. The prize distribution ceremony will be held on the same day, same venue after the race.
3. The number of ranks in each category will depend on the number of registered participants. Please note the following:
4. If a category has only up to 5 entrants, then only the top prize will be given.
5. If a category has more than 5 and up to 8 entrants, then the top two prizes will be given.
6. If a category has more than 8 entrants, then the top three prizes will be given.

Lakshadweep is a group of islands, 200–440 km off the southwest coast of India. These islands form the smallest union territory of the country. The Lakshadweep region has about 600 species of fish, 78 species of coral and over 100 species of other marine invertebrates. This is the perfect opportunity to explore the fascinating marine life under water.
This year BNHS will be visiting the Minicoy Island; Mincoy is Southernmost Island in the Lakshadweep archipelago situated closer to the Maldive island of Uleguma than to Kavrati, this island is famous for having marine life similar to that of Maldives. Participants will get training in snorkeling as part of the camp activity. You need not worry if you do not know swimming; you can still enjoy the deep blue sea and move among the amazing corals, fishes, shells, shrimps and crabs. Most of the snorkeling will be in waist-deep coral lagoons.

Cost Includes: Travel by ship from Kochi to Minicoy and back (overnight journey, twin/four sharing AC cabin on ship), stay and food on the island, Glass bottom boat ride, and snorkeling session as per the itinerary.
Accomodation: Twin sharing Standard AC rooms on the Minicoy Island.
Reporting: Participants to meet at 08.30 a.m. on Day One at Lakshadweep Wharf, Passenger Terminal, Near FCI Depot, Willingdon Island, Kochi, group will return on last day around noon.
