It is situated almost 12 km from the city of Panvel. Currently it is a protected place lying within the Karnala Bird SanctuaryThe structure has immense strategic significance as it is situated at an altitude of 1,440 feet (439 m) and offers a panoramic view of the Bor pass. The structure was primary built with stone. Karnala Fort was occupied by various ruling dynasties, such as, the Ahmednagar Sultanate, the Portuguese, the Maratha Empire and the British East India Company. On the top of this hill we come across a bastion and a temple of Lord Hanumana. There many natural pinnacles formed due to wind-erosion, two of them are man-shaped pinnacle which is one of the greatest wonder of nature's creation. गिरी प्रेमी आणि निसर्ग प्रेमी आम्ही Sahyadriking Trekkers ग्रुप नेनिसर्गाचे आचर्य असलेल्या "सांधन घलइ "चा 2 दिवसाचा ट्रैक आयोजित केला आहे.दिनांक:31ओक्टबर आणी 01नोव्हेंबर.2015 या दोन दिवसात.सह्याद्रीचे आकर्षण म्हणजे सांदण दरी.....एका अतिप्राचीन जिओग्राफिक फॉल्टलाईन (भौगोलिक प्रस्तरभंग रेषा) म्हणजे जमिनीला पडलेली एक मोठी भेग यामुळे निर्माण झालेली ही दरी किंवा घळ हा निसर्गाचा अद्भुत असा चमत्कारच आहे. सांदण दरी दोनशे ते चारशे फुट खोल आणि जवळ-जवळ 4 कि.मी लांबवर पसरलेली आहे.पावसळ्यात सांदण दरीला जाणे अशक्य असते.कारण पावसाच पाणी याच दरीतुन खाली कोसळत.त्यामुळे येथे जाण्याचा उत्तम कालावधी म्हणजे उन्हाळा.दरीतील ऊन-सावल्यांचा खेळ बघण्यासारखा असतो.दरीत गेल्यावर दोन पाण्याचे पुल लागतात.पहिला पुल २-४ फुट अन दुसरा पुल ४-६ फुट पाण्यात असतो.हिवाळ्यात पण जाऊ शकतो पण पाण्याची पातळी तेव्हा थोडी जास्त असु शकते.मुखाजवळच उजव्या हाताला पाणवठा आहे. नैसर्गिकपणे डोंगरातून झिरपणारे थंडगार नितळ पाणी. माणसे आणि जनावरांसाठी दगड रचून वेगळी सोय केलेली दिसते.अतिशय अरुंद घळ, कधी आठ-दहा फूट तर कधी अगदीच जेमतेम एक माणूस जाईल एवढी तीन फूट रुंदी आणि दोन्ही बाजूंना अंगावर येणारा दगडी कमीतकमी दोनशे आणि जास्तीत जास्त चारशे फूट उंचीचा पाषाणकडा आहे. त्याच घळीतून खाली उतरत अगदी शेवटच्या मुखाशी जाता येते। अंदाजे घळीची लांबी एक किलोमीटर आहे। त्यानंतर समोर जो काही विराट कोकणकड्याचा भाग दिसतो त्यासमोर आपले आयुष्यच एकदम क:पदार्थ आहे असे वाटू लागते। एकदम हजार-दीडहजार फुटांचा ड्रॉप आणि समोर करुळ घाटाचा कडा आहे सांधण घळीत पावसाळ्यात काही ठिकाणी बरेच पाणी भरते त्यामुळे त्या जागा थोड्या जपूनच दोराच्या आधाराने पार कराव्यात.दरी मध्ये 2-3 ठिकाणी दोरीच्या साह्याने खड़क भिंत उतरावी लागते.अर्थातच (Rappelling) करुण खाली जावे लागते.दरी पूर्ण उतरून गेल्यावर एक मोठे पाण्याचे डबके लागते,त्यात काहि लोक अंघोळ करतात.मुकाम करण्यासाठी ती चांगली जागा आहे.मुंबई कडुन येणाऱ्या लोकांसाठी:शुक्रवारी रात्रि छ.शि.टर्मिनस वरुण पकड़ायचि रेल्वे10:50 pm – छ.शि.टर्मिनस10:57 pm – भायकला.11:05 pm – दादर11:13 pm – कुर्ला11:18 pm – घाटकोपर11:34 pm – ठाणे11:57 pm – डोम्बिवली12:07 am – कल्याण01:18 am – कसारापुणे कडुन येणाऱ्या लोकांसाठीया नो वर फ़ोन करणे:8605...
