About: Dukes Nose: – Nagphani, later known as Duke's Nose, very good picnic spot nearby loanavla, we can see this Massive 1000 feet pinnacle from Mumbai pune highway also. Umbarkhind: -The battle is known for the strategic manner in which the great maratha king deployed his forces and rapid movement that his cavalry was able to achieve.Battle of Umberkhind took place on 3 February 1661 in the mountain range of Sahyadri near the city of Pen, Maharashtra, India. The battle was fought between the Maratha under Chhatrapati Shivaji and the Kartalab Khan of Mughals. The Marathas defeated the Mughal forces. Come learn about these travelers of the bird world from BNHS. Scattered over the mudflat in a feeding frenzy one can see Lesser Sand Plover, Little Ringed Plover, Kentish Plover, Eurasian Curlew, Common Redshank; Terek, Common, Curlew and Broad-billed Sandpiper; Little Stint and Temminck's Stint, and threatened birds like Black-headed Ibis and Black-tailed Godwit. Also if you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of the first arrivals of the Lesser Flamingos. Charges: Rs. 100/- for members and Rs. 150/ for non-members. All kids will share bed with their parents. Accommodations will be separate for males and females (advisable to carry your warm clothing as well; nights in the forest do get chilly); Clean and Hygienic toilets and bathrooms; separate for males and females; any special requests for family accommodations can be handled by prior communications and will be separately chargeable. Meals and Refreshments: Simple, hygienic, sumptuous vegetarian meals will be provided. Though not needed, Campers may carry their own dry-snacks as well. Resource persons: Well trained naturalists and educators will accompany the campers and help answering queries about biodiversity. Star gazing session will be conducted by experts with good quality, high magnification telescopes. Travel: All travel in the camp starting from NIC and back to NIC is covered. We discourage participants to bring their own vehicles. Onsite assistance: The camp will be guided by 2 forest guards and resource persons. Any help needed should be communicated to them.
