"Raigad Adventure Club" overnight trek to naneghat (ancient trade route pass) on 31st oct. & 1st nov. 2015   "Raigad Adventure Club" invites you to Overnight Trek to Naneghat (ancient trade route pass) on 31st oct.. & 1st nov. 2015   Place: Naneghat (Ancient Trade Route Pass) Height: 2800 feet Grade : medium Base Village – Vaishakhare Region - Malshej  Time – 4-5 Hrs.   Naneghat is one the most well-known passes of its time. Literally, the name nane means "coin" and ghat means "pass". The name is given because this path was used as a tollbooth to collect toll from traders crossing the hills.   This sheer cliff is a well know landmark, very clearly visible from Konkan region as you pass on your way from Kalyan towards Malshej. The walls of this pass come out from the main range and hence command a magnificent view of the great bend in the Sahyadri. This is a pass, which once in history, enjoyed prime importance. The inscriptions, the steps, the rock-cut rest houses, and the cisterns all point out the historic fact that this route was frequently used as far back as the 1st century B.C. The Naneghat area and the caves are now very popular due to an easy access from Malshej ghat road.    Itinerary of the Trek   31st oct. 2015  Day 1 09.30 pm: Kalyan ST Depot (Meeting Point) 09.45 pm: Proceed towards Naneghat  11:30 pm: Reach Naneghat entrance 11.45 pm: Introduction and start trek    1st Nov. 2015 Day 2 04.00 am: Reach at the Naneghat Caves and rest till morning. 06:00 am: Wake up for an amazing sunrise, Explore area, photography. 06:30 am: Breakfast & tea. 07:00 am: Start descending  11:00 am: Reach Base & catch bus till kalyan. 01.00 am: Reach Kalyan ST depot.   Cost: Rs. 700/- per person  Need to deposits 400/- in advance to book your seat. 100/- extra if not paid in advance or payment @meeting point. 100/-per head discount if group of more than 5 people.   Inclusions: Transport from Kalyan to Kalyan return.
