Visited in the right season, Kaas has an enchanting view of carpets of flowers of different shades. One can see a variety of orchids like Habenaria, insectivorous plants like Drosera and Bladderwort, rare flowers like Ceropegia, purple carpets of Catkins and pink carpets of Balsam – such are the spectacular sights at Kaas.

Bhandardhara is a hill station flanked by many known and un-known hills. The peaks of Ratangad, Ajoba , Kalsubai stands tall adorning the landscape here. Kalsubai is incidentally the tallest peak in Maharashtra. Bhandardhara is well fed by the waters of the Pravara River on which rests the Wilson Dam. The Wilson dam was built in 1910 and having completed a century still stands strong. Wilson dam's reservoir is known as Arthur Lake. Off monsoons one can indulge in boat rides in the lake. Bhandardhara is much sought in monsoon for its captivating beauty. The dam water released makes for two gigantic waterfalls, one, the "Umbrella falls" and second unnamed waterfall from the dam spillway. The Randha falls is very well known and much visited. Albeit in monsoons the way to Randha falls is cut off due to heavy flooding. The pastoral landscapes have many gifted waterfalls and drop dead landscapes. The Amruteshwar temple is an age old temple and still stands elegant after 1000 years. Amruteshwar temple is built in hemadpanti style. For reaching Amruteshwar temple, one can drive down or take a ferry ride from Bhandardhara. DCP Expeditions team is organizing a photography workshop at Bhandardara, as a part of its popular project ‘Maharashtra Unplugged’..
ITINERARY
Day 1
Our journey starts early morning. The pick up is from Dadar at 5 am. Subsequent pickup points include Ghatkopar, Mulund, Thane, Teen hath Naka. We will have breakfast on our way to Kasara. We should reach Bhandardara by lunch time via Igatpuri. After reaching, check in dormitory and take some rest. Visit the surrounding waterfalls post noon. Join our expert for an on field photographic guidance. We will have informal discussions on tips and tricks of landscape photography during the evening. Join the group discussion over dinner.
Day 2
Today we will expolre Bhandardara. We will be visting the dam and the surounding areas which offer abundant photographic opportunities of landscapes, waterfalls and also a lot of macro photography.
Day 3
In the morning, we will have a small trail to Randha Falls. After a session of hands on training, we will come back for lunch to the resort. Post lunch, we leave for Mumbai
STAY
We will be staying in Bhandardara MTDC Lake view Resort. The resort is near the dam and offers the best vantage point for photography. The breeze is awesome and the food is delicious. Accomodation is in the dormitory.

SAJJANGAD: Samarth Ramdas lived for long time @ Sajjangad, a small hillock near Satara. This is an important centre of worship for the Ramdasi sect.
