Posted: 09 May 2015 08:52 PM PDT Some Information about the Event:Region:-Garhwal, Uttarakhand,Grade:- easyMax Altitude:-3700 m.Approx trekking:- 25 km.------------------------------------------------------------------------------The trek over the Kuari Pass was the route followed by Shipton and Tilman on their way to the Rishi Gorge and by other mountaineers en route to the peaks on the Indo-Tibetan border. It is also called the Curzon Trail, as the famous former Viceroy of India also travelled this route. The trail was named after Lord Curzon who was a keen trekker and it is said that the path was specially improved so that he could do the trek. The crossing of the pass is a fitting conclusion to a trek that takes in three lesser passes and five major rivers - the Pindar, Kaliganga, Mandakini, Bheriganga and the Dhauliganga.You get truly spectacular views of the Himalayas - Trishul (23,496 ft/7,120 m) o Kedarnath (22,994 ft/6,968 m), Kamet's pyramid of granite (25,595 ft/7,756 m), Nilkanth (21,767 ft/6,596 m), the square-topped summits of Gori Parbat and Hathi Parbat, Badrinath, the icy crest of Dunagiri, Rishikot, Changabang (22,651 ft/6,864 m), Kedarnath and Chowkhamba (23,522 ft/7,128 m) and the legendary twin peaks of Nanda Devi, (25,643 ft/7,740 m), surrounded by an awesome 19,800-foot (6,000 m) wall which forms a sanctuary.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------The itinerary for the event will be as follows:Day 00: 13 th Nov:Meeting Point: Mumbai Central at 9.00 pmStart from Mumbai by Golden Temple Express by 9.30 pmDay 01: 14 th Nov:Reach Nizzamuddin by 6.35 pmTravel till New Delhi Railway stn.. The fort was built with the intention of keeping a watch over the Bhor Ghats and the Pavna region. This was one of the forts handed over to the Mughals according to the Treaty of Purandar.Not much is known about the origin of this fort. In 1657, Shivaji Maharaj took hold of this fort alongwith other forts in the vicinity viz; Tung, Tikona, Lohgad, Visapur. Some information about the ride: Destination: Saputara, Gujarat Route: Thane – Nasik – Saputara – Valsad - Thane Total Distance: 600 kms approx. Meeting Point: Teen Hath Naka, Thane West at 06:00 am on 27th June' 2015. Saputara hill station is perched on a plateau in the Dang forest area of the Sahyadri range at an altitude of about 1000 m. (*Image Courtesy XBHP) Saputara means the 'Abode of Serpents' and a snake image on the banks of the river Sarpagana is worshiped by the Adivasis on Holi.
