History

The fort, initially ruled by the Mughals, was conquered by Shivaji Maharaj who loved it like a jewel! It is known to be more than 20 centuries old and is the origin of the enormous river Pravara, also known as Amrutvahini. Ratan(Gem) gad fort is a grand fort in the beautiful bhandardara region near Nashik(Nasik), it lies near harishchandragad and kalsubai peak. It lies 20 kms away from the bhandardara dam.

Itinerary:

Day 1:
>Start from Dadar by 7.15 a.m
>Have breakfast on the Route.
>Reach Ratanwadi and Have Lunch.
>Start the Trek.
>Reach the top and sightseeing on the fort.
>Dinner and go to bed.

Day 2:
>Early wake up call.
>Have breakfast and Sightseeing on the fort.
>Start descending the fort.
>Reach base and Have Lunch.
>Post lunch Start towards Mumbai
>Reach Mumbai by 7:00 p.m.

(Stay in the caves of Ratangad. Please note that there are no hotels or toilets or any other structure on the fort. It is a rustic activity. Please note it again that it is a trek and not a trip.)

The cost for the trek is Rs 1800/- per head
which includes Travelling Mumbai from Mumbai

All Food during the trek ( 2 Breakfast, 2 lunch & 1 Dinner)

Things to Be carried:
Identity proof (Must),
Trekking bag with all luggage packed properly in plastic bags

A bottle of water (Minimum 2 Ltrs),TORCH with extra batteries (compulsory),

Ready to eat food, like plum cakes, chocolate bar, some snacks & biscuits etc.

Electoral or Enerzyl Powder or Glucon D powder.
Camera (Optional),
Cap etc,
Medicine those if u require usually (Optional),
Good trekking shoes, extra pair of socks. (Please avoid Sports / Canvas Shoes)

Shoes and at least 2 pairs of socks
3. Napkin, towel, Cap etc.
4. Soap, Toilet paper, tooth brush & paste etc (Optional)
5. Spare set of clothes
6. Torch
7. Plate, mug, bowl, spoon (Compulsary)
(as we do not want to increase any kind of litter on the fort we request all participants to bring non-disposable plates/mugs as far as possible.
8. Sleeping Gear (Either sleeping bag or carry mat +Shawl or Satranji+shawl)
(We recommend to carry sleeping bag for your own convenience. Even if you are carrying any of the options try to carry old newspapers or plastic sheet so that you can avoid your sleeping gear from getting dirty in case the ground is little damp)

10. Warm wear
11. Camera, Binocular, Field guides etc. (optional) Rules:
1. Smoking and drinking alcohol is strictly prohibited.
2. Trek leader’s decision will be final and binding.
3. Gypsy Back Packer reserves all the right to change/deviate/cancel the plans without prior notice.

Short pants, Hot pants, Sleeveless, low neck, figure hugging shirts/tops not allowed. P.S payment non refundable for last min cancellation.
