Dhak Bahiri is one of the most exciting and challenging treks it is located in the middle of a cliff of Dhak fort. There are three access routes to the fort. One is Jambhiwali, second is Rajmachi and the third is Sandshi.
We Girivihang Trekkers will be taking the 2nd Rajmachi route. So our route will be Lonavala - Tungarli Dam - Udhewadi - Kondeshwar - Dhak.
The team will be leaving on Saturday via 51027 - Pune Passenger from CST at 10:55pm and at Dadar at 11:10pm and at Thane 11:33pm and Lonavala at 01:53am.
Our trek route begins from Lonavala where we will initially have our Tea & Breakfast then take the usual Rajmachi Route via Tungarli Dam - Udhewadi - Kondeshwar - Dhak.
We will have to traverse a rock patch of around 70 degrees gradient. Then the Real challenge of a Rock patch we have to climb using the support of a wooden Log / Bamboo stick or a Nylon Rope which act as steps which sways preciously. The bamboo stick is vertical and if you slip you fall at least about 500 meters into the valley. Thats the only after you climb the log can you reach the safety of the cave.
Inside the Dhak Cave is having Two Water Tanks. There are number of utensils are also found inside the Tank which is offering to god by Pilgrims. The water is ice cold in every season and used for cooking purpose by the villagers. The cave is an temple of Lord Bahiri where sacrifices are carried out on regular basis. Its Bahiri is holy and highly religious place for the Villagers thus we Girivihang trekkers need to maintain the sanctity of the temple and cave. A group called "Shiv Shambho Yuva Hikers", Karjat maintaining the Cave.
We will have our packed Lunch boxes and start descending before its dark towards Mumbai.
