Short Info:
Konark is best known for the majestic Sun temple which dominates the town. Situated 35 km away from Puri in the state of Orissa, the Sun temple is a World Heritage Monument and every year in December serves as a back drop to the scintillating Konark Festival, a very big and well attended event that showcases the different traditional dance forms of India. During the festival, talented dancers and their troupes descend on Konark to display their skill and mastery over age-old dance forms ranging from the classic Bharatanatyam, the graceful Odissi and Manipuri, to the expressive Kathakali and Sattriya dance styles amongst others. The festival has made the famous tourist destination in Orissa that the Konark is even more attractive in the eyes of the tourists. The mega event is held in an open Natya Mandir (Dance Hall) where dancers from all over country perform in the open air on the “Chandrabhaga Beach” Konark, Odisha. Constructed a way back in the 13th century on the beach of Chandrabagha, this temple and its dancing hall today stand as the evidence of Indian culture’s age old amalgamation of dance and devotion.
On the other hand, Odisha Tourism presents International Sand Art Festival-Though short-lived, sand sculpture with exquisite sensibility can take you to ecstasy. As an art form, entwined with the rich cultural heritage of artistic Odisha, Sand Art stand apart as a class of its own. The famous tourist destination of Konark is all set to host the Second International Sand Art Festival from December 1, coinciding with the annual Konark Festival. The five-day event is being organized by the State Government on Chandrabhaga beach near Konark.

Schedule
Day 01: 01 December
Arrival Bhubaneswar in the morning and transfer to the hotel . After breakfast visit the temples of the temple city in an chronological manner to understand the Kalingan Style of temple architecture.
Post lunch visit to a Dance school to see the preparation of artists for the festival. Sunset by the Peace Pagoda over looking Daya river where you will be explained about the history of Orissa and the famous Kalingan war which transformed King Ashoka. Return to hotel by evening. Overnight stay at Bhubaneshwar.
Day 02: 02 December
After breakfast, checkout and proceed to Mangalajodi via the Jain caves at Khandagiri, Olasingh, the textile weavers village and stay at the Eco cottages.
Post lunch take the boat trip at the wetlands of Chilika with the poachers turned Eco guides to meet large numbers of Migratory birds. Overnight stay at Mangalajodi.
Day 03: 03 December
Depart for Konark via the applique making village Pipli and visit the Sun temple of world Heritage site repute. Also visit the International Sand Art festival at Chandrabhaga beach and then drive to Puri , the holy city. Overnight stay at Puri.
Day 04: 04 December
In the morning explore the holy city by our (National Tourism awarded project for responsible travel initiative) Green Rider Rikshwa services and Post lunch excursion to Raghurajpur where you will have a small workshop with the local artists on Pattachitra. After a lunch in the village, enjoy the cycle trip on the riverside and back to Puri. Overnight stay at Puri.
Day 05: 05 December
In the morning excursion to Satapada at Chilika lake where you will visit the meeting point of Lake and sea , lunch at the fishermen village and back to Konark to witness the final day of Dance Festival and International Sand Art festival.You will have an exclusive Tea with Padma Shree Sudersan Pattanaik who is the brand ambassador of this festival. Overnight stay at Puri.
Day 06: 06 December
Early morning departure for Bhitarkanika national park .Take the boat trip to the mangrove forest and meet crocodiles in nature. Take the hike inside the park and back after sunset from the boat at the creeks of Mangrove forest. Overnight stay at Bhitarkanika.
Day 07: 07 December
Morning Back to Bhubaneswar via the Buddhist ruins and excavated sites at Ratnagiri-Udaygiri. Board the train to Mumbai. Tour concludes.
