Over a period of seven days the dances, rituals and traditional sports of the sixteen tribes are showcased in great pomp and glory. More significantly, dance troupes from all the other North Eastern states join the extravaganza, providing the onlooker with an exclusive glimpse into the cultural diversity of the entire North East. Not surprisingly, in recent years the festival has gone truly global with dance troupes from South Korea, Thailand and Myanmar entering the fray to showcase their talents.

Have you ever imagined walking through a rainforest with a dense overhead canopy; created by towering trees whose tops seem to vanish into the sky and tall bamboos whose tops seem magnetically attracted to each other forming long continuous archways through which one can continue trekking, getting a glimpse of the life that lives beneath this awe-inspiring canopy whenever the sun manages to break through the foliage, listening to the hooting of the Hornbills and the Gibbons, and watching wide-eyed the fluttering of the multi coloured butterflies.
Ever dreamt of trekking in an ecosystem that is home to over 100 mammals, 300 birds and a thousand other life forms? A forest so rich in diversity that every inch is teeming with life that you can come across at any moment – while crossing streams on rickety foot bridges , jumping over large tree trunks which block the road or while ascending/descending the gentle climbs that dot the path. Such is the allure of Namdapha.
Namdapha National Park
Namdapha National Park located on the eastern tip of Arunachal Pradesh is a paradise – a Mecca for nature lovers. This rainforest extending well over 2000 sq. kms. is a biodiversity hotspot containing more than 1000 species of plants, 500 species of birds, 350 butterflies and many more smaller forms of life. This is the only park which boasts of having big large cats namely tiger, leopard, clouded leopard and now leopard, despite which it is difficult to see any of them or their prey due to the dense forestation. But this is more than made up enjoying the humongous trees and appreciating the smaller forms of life giving us a better understanding of the web of life.

This January, we take you on an adrenaline pumping journey, into the remote valleys of Arunachal Pradesh where we will trek in forests and raft down class IV rapids on one of the mightiest rivers in the world. This adventure trip has been designed not only to introduce you to the pristine water experience that the Siang offers, but also to immerse you into the culture of the local Adi tribe.
Get ready to plunge into the whirling rapids of the mighty Siang, for a ride of a lifetime
Siang River
The Siang River system is South Asia’s longest and largest freely-flowing waterway, steeped in exploratory legend and tribal culture. It is the fourth largest river by discharge volume, carrying 700 thousand cubic feet per second of water making it one of the finest white water locations in Asia and perhaps in the world.
Rafting on the Siang
The gorges of river Siang are supposed to be the ultimate challenge for any rafter/kayaker. Our journey begins with a boat ride from Dibrugarh to Pasighat, where the river enters the plains of Assam. From here, a three day journey on road and foot, through remote tribal villages belonging to the Adi, Mishmi and Aka tribes and the densely forested landscape of Central Arunachal, brings us to our starting point, Pangi. We commence our rafting trip by gently paddling from Pangi to our beach camp in Sissen, encountering the popular “Rottung” and “Pongging Punch” rapids on subsequent days.
Cost per person (For Indian Nationals): Rs.56,000/- (Ex Dibrugarh)
Included in the Trip:
All transportation for the duration of the trip including chase vehicle during rafting.
All accommodation in hotels/tents during the course of the trip
All meals during the course of the trip
