About Sagargad fort and Khandale waterfall:
The fort of Sagargad is also known as Khed durg. This fort was built to keep an eye on the shores of Alibaug and Dharamtar creek. Until the establishment of forts like Khanderi, Kulaba and Sarjekot by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the onus of protection of the coast around Alibaug was on Sagargad alone. It should be noted that although the fort is called Sagargad, the fort itself is 5 miles from the sea.
The waterfall of Khandale is a treat during the monsoons. The base village is Khandale for this hike. The hike is a pleasant one with very gradual climb. It would take around two hours to reach the top.
The expense includes transport ex-Mumbai, breakfast/snacks, tea/coffee and YHAI expertise for the trek. Lunch is not included and has to be carried by the participants. Any expense other than mentioned is to be borne by the participants.
