Mahuli Fort is 2815 ft. above sea level and is a popular trekking destination and a paradise for rock-climbers because of many nearby pinnacles. The forest surrounding Mahuli has been declared as a sanctuary. The fort has been declared as a protected monument. Mahuli is divided into three parts – northern one is Palasgad, Mahuli in the middle and Bhandargad on the southern end.
History:
The creator of this fort is unknown. In 1485 this place came under rule of Malik Ahmed who was the founder of Nijamshahi. Shivaji took this fort from Mughals on 8 Jan 1658. In 1661 it was given back and was won again by Shivaji. In treaty of Purandar, in 1665, Marathas lost these forts again. On 16 June 1670, Moropant Pingle conquered the forts and Mahuli, Bhandargad and Palasgad became part of Swarajya.

Trek Schedule:
· Saturday, August 16, 2014 - We will catch 9:29 pm Asangaon Train from Mumbai CST.
· Reach Asangaon station around 11:30 pm. Take a private vehicle and reach at base village for night halt.
· Sunday, August 17, 2014 – We will start our trek after breakfast.
· We will start descend after lunch. Will reach Asangaon Station and take a train.
· We will return Mumbai around 8.00 pm on Sunday August 17, 2014.
Trek Fees:
· Contribution per person is Rs. 550/-
(This includes tea, breakfast, lunch, snacks and private transport between Asangaon & Base Village.)
Note: Participants are requested to purchase Asangaon Return Tickets.
