!! Weekend Wildlife Treat at Bhimashankar Sanctuary !!
Short Info: Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary is a biodiversity rich forest sheltering 14 sacred groves (Devrai’s) and more than 500 wildlife species. It is spread over an area of about 112 sq. km and can be easily accessed for a weekend trip from Mumbai and Pune. Bhimashankar is the kind of forest which is suitable for all types of wildlife excursions, may it be herping trips, bird watching trips, butterfly trails or mammals tracking. Photographers get great exposure at Bhimashankar Wildlife Area as they have multiple objects to target.
Monsoon is primarily the best season for witnessing and photographing micro fauna at Bhimashankar which includes various types of Snakes, Amphibians, Lizards & Geckos, Insects, Arachnids. This overnight trip is planned to explore maximum no of species at the base of Bhimashankar with toppings of homely food and cozy farm-house accommodation.

Schedule :
Day 1 : Saturday : Reach Karjat Railway Station at 4 pm and Transfer to Village Khandas which is the base village of Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. Introduction and briefing session along with hot Tea/ Coffee. At 6 pm leave for the first nature trail in the forest with our experts.
Green Vine Snake
Come back to the base-camp by 8.30 pm. Dinner and Discussion session. Post dinner head for the night jungle trail in the sanctuary area. The chances of observing some exciting biodiversity is great at this time. This trail might go on till a little late if we encounter more species… Back to base-camp and lights off for the day.
Rat Snake
Day 2 : Sunday : Early morning freshen up. Post breakfast our expert will lead the group towards a new location in the dense forest area. Day light provides a good opportunity to make some great wide angle or habitat shots of Herps and Micro wildlife. Herping in day light is altogether a different experience and rewarding challenge. Back to the base camp for Lunch. Experience sharing & discussion session and then depart towards Karjat Railway Station. Reach Karjat by 3 pm
