YHAI Malad trek to Surgad on Sunday, 22nd June 2014.

We, Youth hostel association of India, Malad Unit have arranged a One Day Monsoon Trek to Surgad on Sunday, 22nd June 2014.

Info about the Fort :
Name: Surgad (Ghera Surgad)
Height: ~ 1600 feet
Grade: Easy
Region: ~ Nagothane
Base Village: Khamb Village (On Mumbai –Goa Highway)

Standing on the banks of the Kundalika river, Surgad is an interesting fort to climb. The top offers great views of the meandering Kundalika river as it originates from Tamhini Ghat and finds its way to the sea at Roha. The foothills of Surgad are covered with tropical rain forests and the slopes leading to the fort on top look intimidating, but can be conquered easily.

The itinerary for the Trek is as given below:
We will be traveling by private bus from borivali to borivali.
Pick up points:
05.00am … Borivali station (East)
05.30 am … Sion Railway station
06.00am … Vashi (on Highway)
06.30 am … Panvel

09.00am … Reach Base Village Khamb,
Breakfast and Introduction,
09:30 am … Start our trek,
12:00 pm … Reach on Top of Surgad,
Lunch & explore the fort,
02:00pm … Start descend,
03.30pm … Reach Base Village,
04.00pm … Start our Return Journey,
08.00pm … Reach Mumbai (tentatively).

The cost for the trek is Rs 600/- per head (For non YHAI member 10% extra)
(Includes - Traveling from Borivali to Borivali by Private Bus, Breakfast and Refreshments)

Things to carry:

YHAI membership card and Identity proof (Must),
Lunch for the day (Must),
A bottle of water (Minimum 2.5 Ltrs) (Must),
Camera, Cell Phone, Binoculars (Optional)
Pls avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments,
Carry some ready to eat food, Plum cakes, Biscuits etc
Extra Pair of clothes,
Good trekking shoes, Please don’t wear sleepers, sandals.
Good sack to keep all your belongings, cover it in plastic
Wind cheater,
Wear full sleeves T shirts and full length trousers to avoid insect and throne bites, half pants and 3/4 pants are not allowed.
Personal basic medical kit (Containing an antiseptic, few bandages, personal medications if any, Antibiotics for stomach infection)
Consumption of alcoholic drinks and tobacco products is completed prohibited in youth hostels programs.
