Night Trek to Gorakhgad with Mumbai Travellers on 9th and 10th Feb 2013

Short Info: Gorakhgad is a fort that can be done easily in a day from Mumbai. Though not famous for any historical events, Gorakhgad attracts trekkers due to its inviting pinnacles, which offer good opportunities for rock-climbing. This region of Gorakhgad and Machchindragad has a dense forest cover. 
Fort Gorakhgad is quite small in size. It was had strategic importance during the reign of Shahaji Raje. However, no major battle is recorded to have taken place here. It was used in Shivaji’s era to patrol the nearby region and was used as a stopover station during the journey to Junnar via Naneghat. Though small in size, there is enough availability water and a lot of space for accommodation. The fort gets its name from Saint Gorakhnath, who performed his “Sadhana” in this place.

Schedule:
Day 1:
5 pm : Report at Kalyan St Stand Near inquiry Counter
05:15 – 07:30 pm: Travel Kalyan to Dehri by Bus & Jeep.
07:30 pm : Reach Dehri Village. General Introduction 
8pm: Dinner at Dehri village.
9:00 pm : Start Trek toward Gorakhgad 
11:30 pm : Reach in Cave Of Gorakhgad, Night Halt in cave
Day 2:
06:30 am : Fresh Up, tea & Breakfast on fort. Explore Fort .
09:30 am : Start descending Gorakhgad .
12:00 pm : Reach Dehri Village, lunch at Village.
1:00 pm- 04:00 pm: Travel Dehri to Kalyan by Jeep & Bus. Disperse at Kalyan.
Things to Bring: 
• Snugly fitting canvas shoes / Sports shoes
• Ruck sack / Shoulder bag which can hold following items
• Water Bottle (2 Liter Minimum) compulsory **
• Torch with spare set of batteries
• Cap
• Plate, spoon, mug /glass,
• Spare Cotton Track pant & T- shirts 1no each. 
• Personal bedding, Sleeping Bag / 2Bed sheet / Carry mat.
• Waterproof jacket / raincoat [It may be rain]
• Personal medical kit (personal medicines if any, prescribed by family Dr.).
• Note book, Pen, Sewing kit, shoes laces, Safety pins
• Carry one time meal for the trek. **
Note:
• Please do not carry gold ornaments or any other valuables.
• Please do not carry handbags or zolas for the trek.
• Avoid Chapels / Slippers for trek
• Camera, Binocular is allowed at your own risk
• For safety please follow the expert’s/ Instructors advice on trek.
