Fortaleza de São Sebastião de Baçaim or the Fort of St. Sebastian of Vasai is a grand enclave of bastions, churches, graveyards and several other important structures that defined the erstwhile prosperous town of Bassein or as it is now known as - Vasai.
The rise of Bassein as a major trading port under the Portuguese makes for an interesting story. Learn about the various wars fought for this fort and how the dynamics between the colonial powers and the local rulers led to shaping the history of this region!
