Kothaligad is more commonly known as the fort of Peth because the village of Peth is situated at its base. This fort though small in stature has a vast historical background. Peth Fort was mainly used for storage of ammunition. This fort gained importance during Sambhaji’s era.
Peth / Kothaligad is situated in Shahapur Taluka, approximately 21 Km North East of Karjat. This fort stands tall in the company of various other forts like Rajmachi, Dhak, Siddhagad & Bhimashankar. This is ideal trek for beginners.
Main attractions of fort:
Bhairoba Mandir & well sculptured Cave.
Pinnacle of the of the fort with internally carved steps.
