Yatri Sahyadri - A Nite trek to Duke’s Nose, Khandala on 15-16 Feb 2014

Team Yatri Sahyadri has organized “A Nite trek to Duke’s Nose, Khandala” on 15th February, 2014.

Some basic information about the trek is as follows:

Location: Duke’s Nose, (also known as Nagphani)
Range: Sahyadri, Khandala
District: Raigad
Level: Medium

About the place:
Duke's Nose stands 12 km from Lonavla, clearly visible from the highway while driving towards Mumbai. This landmark in Khandala is popular with hikers. The cliff owes its name to the Duke of Wellington, whose ample nose it resembles.
Duke’s Nose is well known for Rappelling events that happen during winter season more.

Program:
08:45 pm (Saturday evening) : Reporting at Dadar Station. (pls carry your ticket to Lonavala Station)
09:15 pm: Board CSTM Latur SF Express (General Compartment) Travel time approx 2.15 hours.
11.30 pm: We will reach at Lonavala station.
11:30 pm to 12.00 am: Rest.
12.15 am: Start trek From Lonavala Station towards Base Village (Kuruvanda). Trek time approx 3 hrs max.
3.00 am: Reach at atop Plateau. Put us the base Camp. And Rest
6.00am Wakeup Call
7.00 am: start Climbing the Duke’s nose
7.15 am: Reach at Top. Take some Clicks of the wonderful Khandala, Lonavala region, Express Highway and adjacent mountain range at Sunrise.
8.00 am: Start Decend towards Lonavala
11.00 am: Reach Lonavala Station (Take Tickets) and proceed towards Mumbai by available trains

Charges: Rs: 250
Includes : Morning breakfast.
Expert Guidance for the trek. : Lonavala –Kuruvanda- Dukes Nose & Return

Here is a list of all the things that we need to carry for the trek:
1. Your ticket to Lonavala
2. Haversack to put in all the things to be carried. So that one has hands free while trekking.
3. A bottle of water (minimum 2Ltrs).
4. TORCH (with Extra Batteries)
5. Camera (Optional), Avoid wearing Gold and other jewelry (at own risk)
6. Electoral / Enerzyl powder, 2 Lemon, some snacks & biscuits, plate, spoon, glass (all reusable, compulsory).
7. Personal medicines & 2 plastic bags for weight distribution, insect repellant cream (Odomos or similar brand).
8. A good trekking shoes and extra clothes (compulsory). Please do not DONATE your Shoes to Sahyadri Mountains

REGISTRATION PROCESS: Please note that "attending" RSVP on Facebook will not be considered as a valid registration. Please register your self by visiting our website www.yatrisahyadri.com. Please confirm your seat before 14/2/2014.
Registration will be on ‘FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS’ for the first 30 registrations only.
